Garrett Wilson 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook – Elite Status?

0

The 2024 fantasy football season is close at hand and many drafts will be taking place in the next few weeks. There is excitement and a lot of hype with New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson for this upcoming season – especially with the return of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

In this article, we’ll dive into Wilson’s 2024 fantasy football value, analyzing last year’s performance, his current team dynamics, and his potential for the upcoming season. I’ll explore his strengths, potential red flags, and compare him to other wide receivers in the league. Whether you’re contemplating drafting him or trading for him in your dynasty league, this comprehensive analysis will help you make an informed decision on Wilson for the upcoming season.

WR Garrett Wilson Fantasy Football Outlook

In Wilson’s first two years in the league, he finished as the WR22 and WR23. Needless to say, he has posted very respectable numbers to start his career with 178 receptions, 2,145 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns.

What makes those numbers more astounding, is that they were done while Wilson was catching passes from quarterbacks such as Zach Wilson, Mike White, Joe Flacco, Trevor Siemian, and Tim Boyle. Not exactly elite signal callers. Let’s talk about just how good Wilson can be for you and your fantasy football teams this year.

2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Unlike the struggling group of quarterbacks throwing the ball to Wilson over the past two years, this upcoming season Wilson will be catching passes from an elite quarterback in Rodgers. Rodgers as you may recall, only played four snaps last season before tearing his Achilles. The big question is whether Rodgers can rebound and help turn Wilson into a bonafide WR1 this season.

Furthermore, Wilson led all wide receivers in the difference between expected fantasy points (282.4) and actual fantasy points (217.2) last year. His expected fantasy points would have put him as the WR7 in 2023 just behind Puka Nacua. Providing Rodgers is fully healthy from his torn Achilles, Wilson is on the verge of entering elite WR1 status.

Dynasty Football Outlook

Wilson’s dynasty fantasy football ADP is WR6, one spot ahead of AJ Brown and one behind Marvin Harrison Jr. If Wilson wasn’t tied to a 40-year-old quarterback, there is no doubt he would leapfrog Harrison Jr. in ADP.  However, Wilson has shown that he can produce regardless of who is throwing him passes. Wilson just turned 24 years old and is a wide receiver who can be an elite player for your dynasty team for years to come. As expected, he is ranked very high in our latest dynasty rankings.

Conclusion

Wilson’s ADP is WR8 and 11 overall. If you want Wilson on your fantasy team this year, you will have to draft him late in the first round or in the early second if you’re fortunate. Wilson is at the top of my tier two for wide receivers, only behind the big five in CeeDee Lamb, Tyreek Hill, Ja’Marr Chase, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Justin Jefferson. All things considered, I would not be shocked if this time next year, Wilson joins the elite tier of wide receivers.
