Kaden Elliss (LB) – New Orleans Saints
Elliss has scored over 15 fantasy points and has a sack in each of the last three weeks. With Pete Werner missing time due to an ankle injury, Elliss has played over 90% of the snaps in the last two weeks. It looks like Werner will not play this week against San Francisco. As long as Werner is out Elliss is a must-start player.
Jessie Bates (DB) – Cincinnati Bengals
Bates was unable to reach a long-term deal in the off-season and signed the franchise tag. While he’s had some good games this season this has been a down year for Bates. He is on pace for career lows in tackles and fantasy points. It is uncertain if the Bengals will offer him a deal or if he will go to another team. How he finishes the season and where he ends up will have a huge impact on his dynasty value. Bates came into the season as a top-10 dynasty defensive back but he is likely to fall out of the top 10.
Grover Stewart (DL) – Indianapolis Colts
Stewart had a down week against the Eagles after five straight games with double-digit points. He has six games with five or more tackles. Stewart is having the best season of his career and is on pace for career highs in tackles and sacks. Stewart has also played over 70% of snaps in four of the last five games.
Jonathan Owens (DB) – Houston Texans
This is Owens’ first full season as a starter and he has been very consistent and reliable. He has five games with 18+ points and only two games with single-digit points. Owens has 10 or more tackles in seven games so far this season and his 90 tackles rank second among safeties in the NFL. With Houston’s terrible run defense there will be plenty of opportunities for Owens to get a ton of tackles every week.
Kayvon Thibodeaux (DL/LB) – New York Giants
Thibodeaux has had a bit of a rough start in his rookie season. He has dealt with a hip injury in pre-season and a sprained MCL that caused him to miss the first two weeks of the season. He doesn’t have more than four tackles in any game and has two or fewer in three of his eight games played. While Thibodeaux has only one sack and three quarterback hits on the season I wouldn’t worry much if you drafted him. His struggles are likely just due to injuries and him being a rookie. I believe he will have a much better season next year.
