Isiah Pacheco 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook – Elite Upside?

0

The 2024 fantasy football season is quickly approaching and many drafts will be taking place over the next few weeks. Running back Isiah Pacheco of the Kansas City Chiefs is a player I am keenly interested in. Will he become an RB1 this year or will the former 7th-round pick out of Rutgers turn back slowly fizzle out?

In this article, we’ll dive into Pacheco’s 2024 fantasy football value, analyzing last year’s performance, his current team dynamics, and his potential for the upcoming season. I’ll explore his strengths, potential red flags, and compare him to other running backs in the league. Whether you’re contemplating drafting him or trading for him in your dynasty league, this comprehensive analysis will help you make an informed decision on Pacheco.

RB Isiah Pacheco Fantasy Football Outlook

Pacheco didn’t take a stranglehold of the Chiefs backfield until week 10 of 2022. From Weeks 10-17 in that year, he was the RB19. The following year, Pacheco had his breakout season with the Chiefs as he accumulated almost 1,200 yards and scored 9 touchdowns, finishing the season as the RB13. Even though he missed two games, the third game he missed was in Week 18 and we all know the fantasy championships should NEVER be played during Week 18.

Playing alongside superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes and offensive genius Andy Reid are never bad things. In the end, I believe this can only help Pacheco’s fantasy football outlook for both redraft and dynasty league purposes.

2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Heading into this season, Pacheco is being valued as a low-end RB1 as his ADP is RB11. The fantasy community believes in Pacheco and values him as such. He averaged 15.4 points per game last year. If we add that to the two games he missed last year, he would have finished as the RB7.

This offseason saw a couple of things occur that fortified Pacheco’s fantasy value. The first is that the Chiefs did not draft one single running back in the 2024 NFL Draft to compete with Pacheco. Secondly, the Chiefs brought back free agent running back and former first-round pick in 2020 Clyde Edward-Helaire. The Chiefs could have brought in stiffer competition to challenge or share the backfield with Pacheco. Instead, they resigned Edward-Helaire who was no threat to Pacheco last year. All signs point to Pacheco being the workhorse in the Chiefs offense in 2024.

Dynasty Football Outlook

Pacheco’s dynasty fantasy football ADP is RB11 and 38th overall. Notably, he will be turning 26 after this season. As a 7th-round pick, Pacheco lacks the draft capital to give fantasy managers any semblance of security. Providing he stays healthy, however, I believe Pacheco is a running back asset that can help you win for the next year or two.

Conclusion

To be honest, I wanted no part of Pacheco heading into the 2022 fantasy football season, as the success of 7th round running backs is practically non-existent. He proved many in the fantasy community wrong – including myself. This year, however, I am all in on Pacheco and will be targeting him in many drafts. All things considered, he can be a workhorse running back and an elite producer for your fantasy teams.
