Jake Ferguson Fantasy Outlook 2024 – Value Pick?

0

The 2024 fantasy football season is close at hand and many fantasy enthusiasts will be involved in drafts this month. Tight end Jake Ferguson had a breakout season last year for the Dallas Cowboys. Can he take the next step and enter into the upper echelon of fantasy tight ends or remain a steady mid-level producer? Let’s look into Jake Ferguson fantasy outlook for 2024 and beyond.

In this article, I’ll dive into Ferguson’s 2024 fantasy football value, analyzing last year’s performance, his current team dynamics, and his potential for the upcoming season. Additionally, I’ll explore his strengths and potential red flags. Whether you’re contemplating drafting him or trading for him in your dynasty fantasy football league, this comprehensive analysis will help you make an informed decision on Pollard for the upcoming season.

TE Jake Ferguson Fantasy Outlook

The former 4th-round pick out of Wisconsin had an underwhelming rookie season. As expected, Ferguson’s ADP entering the 2023 season was as the TE25, according to FantasyPros. Needless to say, he was one of the best fantasy values among tight ends, as he finished the season as the TE9, with 71 receptions, 761 yards, and five touchdowns.

Last post-season during Dallas’ disappointing Wild Card loss to the Green Bay Packers, Ferguson erupted for 10 catches, 93 yards, and three touchdowns. Ferguson will be looking to act on that playoff dominance this upcoming season.

Jake Ferguson Fantasy Outlook for 2024

Last season Ferguson led all tight ends with 24 red zone targets. The 24 targets led to 12 receptions and five touchdowns. Only Mark Andrews and Sam LaPorta had more red zone touchdowns.

Ferguson was one of only seven tight ends to garner at least 100 targets. Consequently, he benefited from a very productive offense and became a target quarterback Dak Prescott could rely on.

Furthermore, Ferguson ranked second on the team in targets, catches, and receiving yards. The Cowboys failed to improve their receiving corps in the offseason – leaving Ferguson as one of the main benefactors of the Cowboys’ potent offensive attack.

Ferguson enters the 2024 season as the TE10 even though he finished as the TE9 last year. With the hype of the rookie tight ends from last year like LaPorta and Dalton Kincaid, up-and-comers like Kyle Pitts and Trey McBride, along with veterans Travis Kelce and Andrews, Ferguson is being slept upon.

Per our latest 2024 fantasy football rankings, Ferguson is looking like a solid value this year.

Jake Ferguson Dynasty Football Outlook

For dynasty fantasy football purposes, Ferguson has a much more interesting outlook. Ferguson’s current dynasty ADP is TE12, one spot ahead of Dallas Goedert and one behind David Njoku. Ferguson is flying under the radar in dynasty leagues, yet he is a tight end who can easily outproduce his ADP at a minimal cost.

Conclusion

The Cowboys didn’t make any significant upgrades at the receiving position this offseason along with (one could argue) experiencing a downgrade at the running back position. Ferguson is set to at least match last year’s production if not beat it.

I am on record for stating my affection for Ferguson, how I am targeting him as my starting tight end this year (especially with his overall ADP of 84), and how he can sneak into finishing as a top-five tight end this upcoming season.
