Jalen Hurts 2024 Fantasy Outlook: Path To Overall QB1?

The 2024 fantasy football season is quickly approaching. One question that is being asked in the fantasy community is whether Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Jalen Hurts can ascend to the top as the QB1 this upcoming season. Will the “tush push” survive and continue to prop up Hurts’ fantasy points and value?

In this article, we’ll dive into Hurts’ 2024 fantasy football value, analyzing last year’s performance, current team dynamics, and potential for the upcoming season. We’ll explore his strengths, and areas of concern, and compare him to other elite quarterbacks in the league.

Whether you’re contemplating drafting him early trading for him or trading him to another manager in your dynasty league, this comprehensive analysis will help you decide whether Hurts can truly become the QB1 this season.

QB Jalen Hurts Fantasy Value

Hurts is heading into his fourth season and had his best fantasy season last year. He finished as the QB2 (only behind Josh Allen) spurred on by 15 rushing touchdowns. His ADP in a one QB league is QB2 and 25th overall. In a Superflex league (depending on the source used) his overall ADP is between 2-5.

Hurts is easily an upper-echelon QB1 but the question remains whether he can maintain his rushing prowess to maintain his top-tiered status amongst fantasy football elite signal callers.

Fantasy Football Outlook

What makes Hurts an elite fantasy quarterback is his rushing touchdowns. Since he entered the league in 2020 his rushing touchdowns have increased every year to an astounding 15 last year. Without his rushing yards and touchdowns Hurts would have finished as the QB14!

All-Pro center and alleged leader of the infamous “tush push” retired this offseason. The Eagles signed former New York Giants superstar running back Saquon Barkley to a lucrative contract. Will Barkley severely limit the one-yard tush push touchdowns for Hurts? Will the tush push disappear altogether? Nobody truly knows except for the Eagles front office but I think the Eagles will want to limit it and Hurts’ exposure between the tackles.

Even without the tush push, Hurts’ rushing yards have regressed. He averaged roughly 50 rushing yards per game in 2022. That number went down to 35 last year.

Dynasty Football Outlook

Hurts’ value may never be higher in any dynasty fantasy football format. As shown above, I have some serious concerns about Hurts’ rushing production in 2024 which would severely dampen his value. Personally, I would be actively looking to trade Hurts.

Conclusion

If I am the Eagles, why sign Barkley to a lucrative contract and not use him to his full rushing potential and especially at the goal line? If that is the case for 2024, Hurts’ rushing production (especially his touchdowns) will decrease significantly and we could see his value dip down to that of a borderline QB1. Overall, he is a quarterback that I’m looking to sell high on in dynasty leagues and leaning towards avoiding in 2024 redraft leagues as well.
