Jalen Ramsey Traded To The Dolphins – Fantasy Outlook
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting the Los Angeles Rams traded cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins for a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and TE Hunter Long. This deal will not become official until the start of the new league year on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.
To help facilitate this trade, the Dolphins agree to fully guarantee the next two years of Ramsey’s current contract. He has three years remaining on it.
Fantasy Football Outlook: Ramsey is a 28-year-old veteran in the NFL. While he may no longer be the best cornerback in the NFL, he remains one of the league’s elite players at his position. Acquiring a top-end corner was a priority for the Dolphins this offseason after the team and Byron Jones agreed to part ways. This is a team that gave us a hint that they would attack the defensive side of the football this off-season during last year’s campaign. The Ramsey deal follows the Bradley Chubb move at the 2022 NFL trade deadline.
Ramsey has three All-Po selections to his name as well as six Pro Bowls. Additionally, he has at least 16 passes defended, four interceptions, and one fumble recovery in each of the past two seasons with the Rams.
Now, Ramsey is employed by a defense led by Vic Fangio. Undoubtedly, of the NFL’s best veteran defensive minds. Fangio served as a consultant for the historic 2022 Eagles defense. In six seasons since 2017, Fangio-attached defenses finished in the top 12 in total yards and defensive scoring five times. Furthermore, Fangio’s roles served within those defenses came in the form of defensive coordinator, head coach, and consultant.
From a fantasy football lens, the Dolphins’ D/ST will be coveted in fantasy football drafts. Overall, they have the player personnel as well as the coaching to be one of the NFL’s best and fantasy’s best in 2023.
