According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the NFL has suspended five players for violations of the NFL gambling policy. One of those players is Detroit Lions wide receiver, Jameson Williams. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Football Outlook: Williams is one of four Lions to receive a suspension, joining CJ Moore, Quintez Cephus, and Stanley Berryhill. Washington Commanders’ Shaka Toney was also suspended. Moore, Cephus, and Toney were suspended for at least the 2023 NFL season, while Williams and Berryhill will miss the first six games of the year.

Williams is the only one with any fantasy value, making the fact that he only received a six-game suspension a massive break for fantasy players. Last year the former Alabama star played only six games after tearing his ACL in the National Championship Game. He’s a popular breakout candidate for the 2023 season, so this one hurts that for sure.

However, the rookie receiver only caught one of his nine targets for 41 yards and a touchdown. Despite the limited production as a rookie, Williams was expected to have a larger role in 2023. Unfortunately, the suspension will cause his redraft value to take a hit.

Fantasy players should avoid drafting Williams in redraft leagues while pushing Amon-Ra St. Brown and Marvin Jones up in their rankings. Meanwhile, fantasy players should explore trading for Williams in dynasty leagues at a discount if possible.
