Jimmy Garoppolo Signs With The Raiders – Fantasy Outlook
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting free agent QB Jimmy Garoppolo has agreed to join the Las Vegas Raiders on a three-year, $67.5 million deal. Garoppolo now reunites with Raiders’ Head Coach Josh McDaniels. They spent time together with the New England Patriots.
Fantasy Football Outlook: Garoppolo signing with the Raiders is a massive relief to those with shares in dynasty fantasy football or if you plan on drafting Raiders’ weapons for redraft fantasy leagues. I don’t think Garoppolo is much of an upgrade or a downgrade from Derek Carr, who was released earlier this month.
For Garoppolo himself, I don’t think he will be of much use in fantasy, and he can serve as a great reserve or quarterback two/three in SuperFlex leagues. As stated before, this move primarily impacts the Raiders’ weapons and is a sign that a competent quarterback will be at the helm.
It is nice that Garoppolo should have an easy transition, and all systems should be a go for the start of the season. You can expect your usual Davante Adams, Josh Jacobs, and a resurgence of Darren Waller in the 2023 season.
