Keep reading to find out why Joe Burrow 2024 fantasy outlook is on the right track heading into 2024.
QB Joe Burrow Fantasy Football Outlook
Last year Burrow suffered a preseason calf strain that severely hampered his performance entering the regular season. From weeks 1-4, he was the QB32. Anyone who watched Burrow play could see how the injury affected his throwing. During that stretch, he ranked 28th in aDOT (average depth of target) clearly showing the impact of the calf strain.
However, from weeks 5-10 last year, Burrow was the QB4 and ranked third in passing touchdowns. Unfortunately, in week 11, he suffered a wrist injury and was lost for the rest of the season.
When healthy, Burrow has been an elite fantasy quarterback. In 2021 he finished as the QB5 and in 2022 as the QB4.
Joe Burrow Fantasy Football Outlook
Burrow enters the 2024 fully healthy from his injuries. Notably, he still has elite wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to throw to. Third-round rookie pick Jermaine Burton from the University of Alabama also joins the Bengals dynamic receiving corps. Running back Chase Brown showed late last season that he can be an electric pass catcher as well, out of the backfield. Burrow has plenty of offensive weapons to produce as a high-end QB1 this season.
While other quarterbacks like Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen get a lot of attention with their rushing upside, Burrow also possesses some sneaky rushing potential. In the two seasons that Burrow was fully healthy, he averaged almost 200 rushing yards and 3.5 touchdowns. Burrow will never be confused as being an elite rushing quarterback, but he will provide some production on the ground.
Dynasty Football Outlook
Burrow’s dynasty fantasy football ADP is QB6. At 27 years of age, Burrow is entering his prime and if healthy, has many years of elite fantasy production ahead of him.
With the wave of new and exciting quarterbacks over the past two years in C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson, and Caleb Williams along with the elite rushing quarterbacks, it almost seems as though the fantasy community has forgotten about Burrow. He no longer seems like the trendy or sexy pick. For that reason, I would look to acquire Burrow at any discount given by league mates.
Conclusion
Burrow’s current ADP in redraft leagues is QB7. In a recent interview on the Barstool Sports Podcast Pardon My Take, Burrow made it abundantly clear about how he feels about the upcoming season. “People forget about you… That’s part of the game. If you’re not out there, people are not watching you, there’s nothing to talk about. I’m going to give people something to talk about this year. I’m excited about it.”
Overall, Burrow is an excellent mid-round pick in fantasy football drafts. He provides top-five upside and is a QB I am looking to draft. Doing so allows me to focus on other positions in the earlier rounds. Draft him this year and he will help you win your fantasy football leagues.
