Jonnu Smith Traded To The Falcons – Fantasy Outlook
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, The Atlanta Falcons are trading for veteran tight end Jonnu Smith. They will be sending a seventh-round pick back to the New England Patriots. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)
Fantasy Football Outlook: Heading into his seventh season in the NFL, Smith will now be playing tight end for the Atlanta Falcons. Last year, he had just 245 receiving yards, which was the worst of his entire NFL career. Additionally, he had a whopping zero touchdowns. That’s the first time that’s happened in his years in the NFL.
Kyle Pitts is a dynasty favorite and one of the youngest, most talented tight ends in the NFL right now. However, he’s coming off a disappointing 2022 season. He played in just 10 games before suffering a Grade 2 MCL sprain in Week 11 that sidelined him the rest of the year. Despite this, Pitts only averaged 7.6 FPPG, 22nd for all tight ends.
In any case, Pitts should be ready by Week 1, but Smith essentially does nothing to Pitts and his fantasy football value. Smith might be worth holding onto on the end of your dynasty rosters in deeper leagues, but not much more than that. Overall, not much of a change here for either of these tight ends.
