Jordan Love 2024 Fantasy Outlook: Year 2 Breakout Loading?

0

Following a rocky beginning to his first season as the starter in Green Bay, Love dazzled in the second half. The Utah State product helped lead the Packers to a 6-2 record down the stretch to lock up the seventh seed in the NFC. Furthermore, he also shined in the postseason in a 48-32 upset victory over the Dallas Cowboys. This was before nearly knocking off the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round.

Set to head into the 2024 fantasy football season with one of the most young, dynamic pass-catching groups in the game, the Packers will return all of their weapons from a year ago. This includes second-year man Jayden Reed and Christian Watson. The former led Green Bay in both receptions (64) and receiving yards (793) in his debut campaign while tying Romeo Doubs for the most receiving touchdowns (8). Meanwhile, the latter is looking to get healthy after missing eight games due to a hamstring injury.

Should managers bank on a breakout sophomore season for Love and buy him at his current ADP of QB8? In this article, I will dive into his fantasy football outlook for the upcoming year as well as his dynasty football value.

QB Jordan Love Fantasy Value

Love was arguably the best quarterback in football during his final eight regular season games. The 25-year-old completed 70.3 percent of his passes while leading the league in passing yards (2,150) and touchdown to interception ratio (18-to-1). Moreover, he also finished second in passer rating (122.7). As a result, Love was QB2 during that stretch, averaging 21.2 fantasy points per game.

Primarily due to a shift in Matt Lafleur’s offense, Green Bay utilized play action at the fifth highest rate from weeks 11-18 (28.5%). This was compared to just 23.3% from weeks 1-8. Additionally, the team generated an explosive play on 54.6% of its drives, the second-highest mark in the NFL.

Fantasy Football Outlook

Love ranks among the top ten signal callers this offseason in both PPR and standard scoring formats. He represents the end of quarterbacks with QB1 upside. Despite lacking a true number-one wide receiver, Green Bay features a diverse pass-catching core for the former first-round pick to spread the ball around to. Both Reed and Dontavion Wicks finished in the top five amongst rookie wideouts in yards per route run. They also combined for 14 touchdown scores.

Along with this, after choosing to part ways with Aaron Jones in the offseason, the Packers signed former Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs to a four-year deal. They also shored up their offensive line depth by selecting University of Arizona tackle Jordan Morgan.

Dynasty Football Outlook

Love was tasked with following in the footsteps of two of the NFL’s legends in, Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre. Coming out of the gate red hot, he guided the Packers to a 2-2 start while averaging 19.6 fantasy points per game. This included a come-from-behind victory over the New Orleans Saints in his home debut.

Furthermore, after his play dwindled over the next five weeks, Love was arguably the top quarterback in football during the season’s final stretch. Kick-started by a three-touchdown performance against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving, over his final eight games, the California native helped Green Bay knock off the Kansas City Chiefs, Carolina Panthers, and Minnesota Vikings.

Reportedly, Love is in talks to sign a contract extension with the Packers, and he is currently heading into the final year of his deal. While you could make the case to sell high on him heading into 2024, the former New Mexico Bowl MVP showed glimpses of being a franchise quarterback in his rookie season. Love should be the quarterback of the Packers for the next decade or more. He is in the mix to be QB1 in dynasty leagues.

Conclusion

Love currently has an ADP of 62, making him QB8. Coming off a solid end to his first season as the starter in Green Bay, the one-time Second-team All-Mountain West Conference member has the upside to be a contender for the NFL’s MVP Award if he takes the year two leap that many expect him to.

With QB1 upside, he is worth a mid-round pick in one quarterback league. Love can also comfortably be selected in Superflex formats in the second or third round.d
