Kyler Murray 2024 Fantasy Outlook – Top 5 Potential?
As the 2024 fantasy football season approaches, Kyler Murray has become a polarizing player. Murray will enter the season fully healthy after missing the start of the year in 2023. With a full offseason program ahead of him, how high can Murray finish this season?
In this article, we will delve into Murray’s fantasy football outlook, analyzing his previous performances, current team dynamics, and potential for the upcoming season. We’ll explore his strengths and potential red flags and compare him to other elite quarterbacks in the league. Whether you’re thinking about drafting him early or trading for him in your dynasty league, this comprehensive analysis will help you make an informed decision on whether Murray can be a difference-maker in your lineup.
QB Kyler Murray Fantasy Value
As Murray enters his sixth season in the NFL, he is poised for significant success. The former first-round pick from Oklahoma received a substantial contract extension during the 2022 offseason, securing a five-year deal worth $230.5 million running through 2028. Prior to the 2024 NFL Draft, there were speculations about Arizona considering moving on from Murray this season. However, these speculations were swiftly dismissed due to the challenges associated with his contract’s guaranteed money. It is evident that the team has fully committed to surrounding Murray with talent to maximize his chances of success.
Last year, Murray played in just 8 games and threw for 1,799 yards with 13 total touchdowns. Notably, Murray averaged 18.9 fantasy points per game, which tied him for 9th place with CJ Stroud last season. In 2022, he maintained the same average points per game and ranked as the 7th best quarterback in fantasy on a per-game basis. Fantasy managers are hoping for him to replicate the success he had back in 2020 and 2021 when he finished as the 3rd and 4th best quarterback in fantasy points per game.
Fantasy Football Outlook
Heading into 2024, Murray is currently being drafted as the 9th quarterback. He ranks 7th in my personal quarterback rankings at this point in the offseason. With the additions of rookie Marvin Harrison Jr., Zay Jones, and Trey Benson, this offense should be much better. In 2023, Murray rushed for an average of 30 yards per game. With a full year removed from the ACL injury, we should expect that number to increase. Murray has the potential to be a top-5 fantasy football quarterback in 2024.
Dynasty Football Outlook
Murray is a desirable quarterback to own in dynasty fantasy football leagues. Looking past this season, if Trey McBride and the other skill positions take a step forward this year, the sky is the limit. We should expect this young team to add more pieces to its nucleus. Murray is one of the top 10 quarterbacks I would like to roster in dynasty football leagues.
Conclusion
Overall, this is a crucial season for Murray and the Arizona Cardinals. After signing his substantial contract, things went off the rails for the team. In year two, I expect Jonathan Gannon to continue building on the culture and lead the team to take another step forward. I am all in on Murray at his current value this upcoming season.
