Missouri Tigers CFB – 2025 NFL Draft Preview
The Missouri Tigers had their best season since 2013, which resulted in a win over Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl. They finished in the top 10 and enter the 2024 season as a legitimate contender in the SEC. The Tigers had six draft picks, including Darius Robinson (1/27), Ennis Rakestraw Jr. (2/61), and Ty’Ron Hopper (3/91) in the first three rounds of the recent 2024 NFL Draft.
There will be questions surrounding the amount of players they need to replace on defense, but Missouri’s offense should be among the best in the nation. Here is an early preview of the Tigers’ top prospects to watch this Fall, including two potential first-rounders. More importantly, for the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
Armand Membou OT
With the film Armand Membou put together last season, he has a strong argument to be the best offensive lineman in the draft, regardless of position. Membou is a high-end athlete, who plays with a really low pad level, and can anchor versus power. He has an explosive kick slide to gain good depth in pass protection, and his snatch-trap was incredibly effective.
As a run blocker, Membou climbs well, and he has the grip strength to sustain his blocks. Membou’s tape against LSU was one of the most dominant performances last season. He is similar to Troy Fautanu, in that he has the talent to stay at tackle but could also be a great guard. Whoever drafts Membou in the first round is getting a player with Pro Bowl upside.
Luther Burden III WR
The top wide receiver in the draft will come down to Luther Burden III and Tetairoa McMillan at Arizona. Some teams may view Burden III as more of a slot weapon, but he can also play on the outside. Burden III is great with the ball in his hands and can be schemed touches.
His hands are excellent, and Burden III can track the ball downfield. Burden III’s route running is good, but that is an area where he can improve. If Burden III were eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft, he would have competed with Rome Odunze to be the third wideout drafted. McMillan may end up higher for some teams because of the size, but I think Burden III will be the better pro.
Brady Cook QB
A higher floor prospect, Brady Cook projects as a backup at the next level. After not being the surefire starter coming into the 2023 campaign, Cook put together an impressive season. He threw for 21 touchdowns with only six interceptions. His tape against Georgia on the road was very good given the circumstances. He can make most NFL throws, and Cook is also a quality athlete. He’ll be a threat with his legs in the NFL.
His decision-making is sometimes inconsistent, leading to turnover-worthy passes, but he kept the ball out of harm’s way in most games. This will be a big year for Cook to replicate the success he had last season and establish himself as an early to mid day three pick.
Johnny Walker Jr. DE
An undersized rusher, Johnny Walker Jr. should provide value as a DPR on day three of the draft. He has an effective long-arm move to open up the tackle, and Walker Jr. does a very good job of attacking the B-Gap. Walker Jr. has the closing burst to convert pressures into sacks and enough bend. On film, Walker Jr. was always around the quarterback, he just might not have the elite traits at his size to warrant a day-two pick.
Theo Wease Jr. WR
An Oklahoma transfer, Theo Wease Jr. was a top recruit in the 2019 class. He is entering his sixth season at the collegiate level and had his best season last year. Wease Jr. possesses solid size and does a good job of high-pointing the ball. Notably, he can use his body to shield off defenders but shouldn’t be tasked with consistently separating from them.
Wease Jr. didn’t drop a pass on the film I watched, and he is fluid enough for his size. Wease Jr. should hear his name called next April. He may be someone on your Devy radar as well.
