The Chicago Bears are set to play host to the Minnesota Vikings in an NFC North battle at Soldier Field on a chilly Monday night. The Vikings are currently 6.5 point road favorites in a game featuring a 44.5 point game total. For the Vikings, running back Alexander Mattison and wide receiver Dede Westbrook are on the reserve/Covid list and will be OUT. Also, wide receiver Adam Theilen is listed as questionable after missing last week’s game with an ankle injury. For the Bears, Allen Robinson, Jesse James, Andy Dalton, and Ryan Nall are all on the reserve/Covid list and are expected to be out. Additionally, wide receiver Marquise Goodwin is listed doubtful with an injured foot.
MVP Options
Justin Fields ($14,000)
Justin Fields has started to round into form as the season has progressed and has put up some fantasy-relevant numbers in recent weeks. Over his last three full games, he has put up 19 or more FanDuel points in all of them, including a tough matchup against the Packers. In those games, he has rushed for 103, 45, and 74 yards. Now he gets a matchup with the Minnesota Vikings who are giving up the third-most FanDuel points per game to quarterbacks. Given the matchup and rushing upside, Fields makes for a very nice MVP in tonight’s game.
Kirk Cousins ($16,000)
Kirk Cousins has been as solid as it gets all season long. He is averaging a steady 19.74 FanDuel points per game and has only fallen below 15 points three times this season. While it may not be likely that Cousins will win you a GPP in the MVP spot, he can certainly get you there in cash game formats. He has attempted over 30 passes in all but one game, and now gets the Chicago defense allowing the 4th most FanDuel points to quarterbacks. While it is more likely he is optimal in the flex, putting him at the MVP is very safe for cash game formats.
Dalvin Cook ($15,000)
If I am going to roster a Vikings player in the MVP spot for GPP it is going to be Dalvin Cook. Cook receives massive volume every single game and now is without their top backup with Alexander Mattison being OUT. He is averaging 19.8 rushing attempts to go along with 2.8 receptions per game. Chicago is around league average in defending running backs, so no matchup concerns. Cook leads the team with 12 rushing attempts inside the 5-yard line and with no Mattison should receive an additional workload.
Flex Plays
Darnell Mooney ($11,000)
With Allen Robinson already ruled out and Marquise Goodwin likely out, Darnell Mooney is the Bear’s top receiving option. In the absence of Robinson, Mooney has posted two 100 yard games this season. The second-year receiver out of Tulane is averaging four catches and 56.9 yards per game. Without two of their top receivers, the Bears will rely on Mooney to lead the way and has shown that he is more than capable. He also gets a very easy matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have given up the most FanDuel points per game to wide receivers this season at 36.1 per game. The Vikings have given up the second-most yards and touchdowns to wide receivers this season, making Mooney a priority for this slate.
K.J. Osborn ($9,000)
With no Adam Theilen last week, K.J. Osborn was able to put up a 3-83-1 line. He has shown throughout the year when given the opportunity he can make the play. Last week his touchdown was a 62 yarder so he also show that big-play potential. Also, he had nine targets last game. He’s got the potential to step in as the WR3 in this offense and produce again even with both the other two wide receivers active.
Jakeem Grant Sr. ($7,000)
Over the last two weeks, Grant has played a bigger role within the Bears offense getting double-digit FanDuel points in both weeks. With both Robinson and Goodwin ruled out, Grant should continue to receive additional work and has amassed 10 targets in the last two weeks. As mentioned earlier the Vikings defense gives up the most FanDuel points per game to wide receivers.
Justin Jefferson ($14,500)
Justin Jefferson is one of the top young receivers in the game and has a great matchup this week as the Bears allow the fifth-most points to wide receivers. He has averaged 6.5 catches and 99 yards per game this season. He has been targeted on 23% of the team’s passes inside the ten-yard line. The volume he constantly receives and red zone work always makes him a big-time play.
