NFL Best Bets: Week 10
The last two weeks in the NFL have shown just how much parity we have in this league with all these upsets and it continued into Thursday Night Football with the Dolphins beating the Ravens. No team is safe and as the old phrase goes it is truly, “Any Given Sunday”. Let’s try to sort the craziness that is the NFL and nail some picks this week with NFL Best Bets: Week 10.
Early Slate
Colts -10
The Jaguars shockingly defeated Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills last week, beating them 9-6. The Bills have two weaknesses, their pass protection and a lack of a run game and that can be an issue for them going forward if they don’t improve in those areas. The Colts do not have these issues, they have a terrific offensive line and have a stellar run game led by Jonathan Taylor. Carson Wentz now has 17 touchdowns and just three interceptions on the season and Michael Pittman has formed into a formidable #1 wide receiver. Look for the Colts offense to have their way with the Jaguars defense and for the Colts defense to make enough plays and contain a Jaguars offense that only has 13 points in its last two games.
Browns @ Patriots Under 45
Both of these teams are averaging 25 points per game, but at the same time, the Browns defense is allowing just under 22 points and the Patriots just 19. Both teams want to run the ball and both defenses are solid. The Browns secondary has gotten healthy again with Greedy Williams, Denzel Ward back and these Browns have only allowed 31 points in its last two games. This game has important playoff implications so look for a tough physical football game that goes under the total.
Late Slate
Panthers @ Cardinals Under 44
The Panthers will start P.J. Walker at quarterback and for Arizona, Kyler Murray is questionable with an ankle injury, if he can’t go it will be dink and dunk with Colt McCoy once again. Two good defenses in this game, questionable quarterback play, I see a lot of three-and-out drives and field goals. Take the under.
Chargers -3, Vikings @ Chargers Over 53
This game should have a lot of fireworks with a ton of offensive talent on both sides of the ball and two quarterbacks who can sling it. Despite Dalvin Cook’s recent troubles, look for him to have a big day on the ground against a Chargers team that has been horrid in rush defense all year. Justin Herbert bounced back from two off games last week and he should continue to roll this week against a Minnesota defense that is without the force that is Danielle Hunter. Herbert also has been historically good against zone defenses, which Minnesota plays a good chunk of. The Vikings have four games that have gone over 50 points this season and they’ve only won one of them which was against Carolina. Take the Chargers and the over.

Monday Night Football
Rams -3.5
This is simply a fade on Kyle Shanahan. Their effort last week against an injury-depleted Cardinals team was atrocious. Shanahan has also misused his personnel all season, although he is starting to finally get Brandon Aiyuk back in the mix. It’s Monday night and the 49ers will be motivated, but the Rams are also going to be ready after getting beat by the Titans last week. The 49ers have lost four of their last five games and the heat is on Shanahan. I’m fading the 49ers until they show me some life, give me the Rams on Monday night.
Sleepers
In fantasy football you need to think ahead, playing chess not checkers. If you have any waste on your roster you can cut or have an IR spot you can utilize you need to take advantage of that. That could mean picking up a backup running back or wide receiver just in case of an injury or grabbing a player that is returning from the IR in a few weeks. It could also mean grabbing a player who is buried on the depth chart, forgotten about, who may be getting an opportunity in the upcoming week(s). Don’t get stale, think outside the box and stay ahead of your opponents and the industry. Here are some guys to grab ahead of Sunday’s games.
Jermar Jefferson
Jefferson is a talented rookie back who has juice and he will get an opportunity this week with Jamaal Williams out. The matchup isn’t great against Pittsburgh, but he should have a role and it could project into the coming weeks if Willams continues to be out.
Eno Benjamin
Eno Benjamin may have been grabbed already, but if not go grab him now. Or try to make a quick trade for him. Chase Edmonds is going to be out 4-6 weeks with his high ankle sprain and Eno steps into a great opportunity playing alongside James Conner in this Arizona offense. I really like Benjamin’s talent, he should get 10 touches a game to start and I really feel he could be one of the best pickups in fantasy this season.
Tyler Johnson
We have talked about Johnson previously in this article, but this might be his biggest role of the season with Chris Godwin possibly out on Sunday. Fellow wideout Scotty Miller looks to be back, but Tyler should have the #2 role against this poor Washington secondary. Antonio Brown is still in a walking boot and regardless if Godwin comes back this week or next, a potential starter in this offense is something you want to have a piece of. Johnson is also talented in his own right.
Titans Defense, Geoff Swaim
Is this defense still out on your wire? They shouldn’t be as the Titans pass rush has come alive looking like one of the best in the league and their schedule is great the rest of the season. They have upcoming matchups against the Saints, Texans, Jaguars, Steelers, 49ers, and Dolphins, that’s as good as it gets.
We talked about Geoff Swaim last week and he scored again, now with touchdowns in back-to-back games. He’s the Titans starting tight end right now, so if you need help there, go grab him.
