NFL DFS: Week 14 FanDuel Picks

Thanks for reading our weekly FanDuel DFS column. Our goal with this column is to highlight less obvious roster moves strictly on FanDuel. Everyone knows that a Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce stack is a popular move and that Derrick Henry is worth the premium. But here, we want to highlight uncommon players to help you differentiate your lineups. Now, let’s make some money with NFL DFS: Week 14 FanDuel Picks.

Stacks

Patrick Mahomes ($8,500), Tyreek Hill ($8,700)
Correlate: Hunter Renfrow ($6,700)

This is not the type of stack I typically go for in these columns, as I’m often looking to separate my lineups from the norm on any given week. However, Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill lit up the Las Vegas Raiders in their last meeting, where Hill had seven receptions for 83 yards and two touchdowns and Mahomes threw for 406 yards and five touchdowns.

Beyond that, there are many ways to stack this matchup to provide variation, whether that comes from a Derek Carr stack and bringing it back with the likes of Byron Pringle or pivoting to Foster Moreau in a comeback with a Kansas City stack. Get creative with this matchup, as it’s likely to follow a similar script as their last meeting.

Tom Brady ($8,200), Chris Godwin ($7,700)
Correlate: Dawson Knox ($6,00)

Again, the matchup between Tampa Bay and Buffalo is likely to be a prominent target for stacking this week, but with that, there are plenty of ways to get different despite that. Given the recent trend in teams running all over Buffalo, I expect many people to target Leonard Fournette in their lineups, meaning there is value to be found by avoiding Fournette in a tournament setting. In cash, however, I’m drawn to a Bills stack and coming back with Fournette for the same reason.

But if you pivot away from Fournette, it’s hard to argue with a Tom Brady stack, as he has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks on the season, finishing with multiple touchdowns in all but three games this season. This matchup could turn into a shootout, particularly if the Bills can pass on the Buccaneers, pushing Brady to throw more, opening up opportunities for the likes of Chris Godwin and company.

Value Plays

Javonte Williams ($6,700)

If Melvin Gordon sits this week, Javonte Williams legitimately has a chance to be the number one running back, particularly in a week with no Jonathan Taylor. Even if Gordon plays, it’s hard to imagine Denver completely returning to the 50/50 split they’ve employed throughout the season, and Williams is always a big-play threat. To me, Williams is a go no matter what, but expectations will shift if Gordon starts.

Taysom Hill ($7,700)

The only reason Taysom Hill is not included in a stack this week is that I don’t know who he is possibly going to be throwing to this Sunday, other than probably some dump-offs to Alvin Kamara. The good news is Hill doesn’t need to throw the ball to be a fantasy-relevant quarterback, as he had 24 FanDuel points last week while throwing four interceptions. That is plenty to return on his value and this week he faces a struggling New York Jets defense.

J.D. McKissic ($5,300)

We could see the return of J.D. McKissic this week, as the Washington Football Team seeks to keep their playoff hopes alive against the Dallas Cowboys. While Antonio Gibson seems to have legitimately taken over this running back, averaging nearly 20 touches before McKissic’s injury, Washington is likely to pass to keep up in this matchup, providing plenty of upside from the explosive McKissic.

Jalen Guyton ($5,200)

With Keenan Allen out on Sunday, Jalen Guyton slides into a potentially prominent role, as the Chargers face off against the New York Giants, who are in the bottom half of the league in pass yards given up. Guyton made a big splash last week against Cincinnati and with increased targets this week could easily hit 20 FanDuel points.

Ricky Seals-Jones ($4,500)

This week’s lineup includes a lot of value due to injured players, which is the case for Ricky Seals-Jones, who will be replacing Logan Thomas once again for the Washington Football Team. Washington tends to use their tight end and this week they will likely need to throw the ball to keep up with Dallas, providing touchdown upside for Seals-Jones. I would only consider Seals-Jones in a stack with Antonio Gibson, otherwise, I’d limit my exposure to a Washington offense that can be shaky.

Streaming Defense

Denver Broncos ($4,400)

My favorite defense of the week is Denver matching up against the Detroit Lions. Despite coming off their first win, the Lions are currently decimated at running back and are prone to giving up sacks and turnovers, providing plenty of upside for your defense this week.

Contrarian Move

Russell Wilson ($7,500), Tyler Lockett ($7,300)

While there is a scenario where the Seahawks continue to struggle, I think this week is a good chance for them to bounce back against the Houston Texans. The Seahawks aren’t particularly a run-heavy team, so even if they get ahead, I imagine them continuing to pass the ball, especially as they need to regain their rhythm on offense. Many people are likely to avoid the Russell Wilson this week, given the recent struggles, which is all the more reason to target them as a way to differentiate in tournament settings.
