NFL DFS: Week 7 FanDuel Picks

0

Thanks for reading our weekly FanDuel DFS column. Our goal with this column is to highlight less obvious roster moves strictly on FanDuel. Everyone knows that a Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce stack is a popular move and that Derrick Henry is worth the premium. But here, we want to highlight uncommon players to help you differentiate your lineups. Now, let’s make some money with NFL DFS: Week 7 FanDuel Picks.

Stacks

One of the popular week seven stacks is going to be Matt Stafford ($8,100) to Cooper Kupp ($8,800). There is certainly a lot of face value to this stack because of the matchup against Detroit. However, Detroit has been better than expected against the pass, ranking 6th in FanDuel points against opposing quarterbacks and second against opposing receivers. Where they have struggled more is against the run, which we’ll get to in a moment. But as a reminder, it was against Detroit that Aaron Jones had his four-touchdown game, and Alexander Mattison put up 26.3 PPR points against Detroit. This could turn into a run-heavy affair.

Aaron Rodgers ($7,900), Davante Adams ($9,000)

Correlate: JD McKissic ($5,700)

My favorite stack of the week involves the matchup between Green Bay and the Washington Football Team. Washington gives up the most points to opposing quarterbacks and the second-most points to opposing receivers. With this move, you’re saving with Rodgers which helps you pay up to start Adams. For the correlation move, I like JD McKissic as a value option. Certainly, Terry McLaurin ($7,200) is a solid option, but Green Bay has been solid against opposing receivers. On the other hand, McKissic has frequently been used when playing from behind and may see increased touches this week with Antonio Gibson struggling through injury. Spending less on McKissic also clears up space to start someone like Derrick Henry or Travis Kelce.

Matt Ryan ($7,300), Calvin Ridley ($7,300)

Correlate: Jaylen Waddle ($5,900)

Another team that has been brutal against the pass is the Miami Dolphins, who are facing the Falcons coming off a bye week. While the narrative has been pessimistic about Calvin Ridley, he has seen 10 or more targets in three consecutive starts, providing a workable floor with a significant ceiling. Ridley also only has one touchdown on the season, which we would expect to increase as the season progresses. On the other side, we have Waddle as a low-value correlation play. This matchup has the potential to hit the over (47.5 points) as Miami and Atlanta are two of the highest pace teams in the league, giving the potential of a pass-heavy game.

Running Back Breakdown

Darrell Henderson ($8,000)

This one is fairly simple. Henderson is a top-10 running back on a points per game basis and is facing a Detroit Lions defense that averages one rush touchdown and one receiving touchdown to opposing running backs. Additionally, Sony Michel is inactive this week, so Henderson should see the bulk of the load. And $8,000 is very workable for a running back, especially with some of the depth at receiver.

Chuba Hubbard ($7,300)

The New York Giants are another team struggling against opposing running backs, ranking 28th on FanDuel against opposing running backs. Further, the Panthers are coming off a horrific performance passing the ball, so they may look to rely on the run game and short passes to get their offense on track. Hubbard then comes in as a value running back if you’re avoiding paying up for Henry.

Josh Jacobs ($6,900)

The Las Vegas Raiders face off against the Philadelphia Eagles, who have given up over 50 points to opposing running backs the past two weeks. Josh Jacobs is still the preferred back in the Raiders offense and while his pass usage has been volatile, he has been getting plenty of carries to be a viable starter, especially if he can make his way into the end zone. I feel less on fire about Jacobs out of this group, but he could be a way to save salary and make your lineup stand out.

Value Plays

Dallas Goedert ($5,900)

Unless Philadelphia has been stashing tight ends and not telling anyone, Dallas Goedert is now the lone fantasy-relevant tight end in the Eagles offense and should see an uptick in usage with Zach Ertz no longer stealing touches. Goedert could easily end up as a top-five play this week, and we are getting him at a slight discount because of the timing of the Ertz trade. If you’re not taking Kelce or Andrews, Goedert is a great value play.

Miles Sanders ($5,900)

It is hard to trust the Philadelphia backfield right now, but this week could be a different story. Nick Sirianni is on record saying they need to get Miles Sanders more involved in the offense and last week against Tampa Bay, the Eagles looked most effective when Sanders was getting the ball. He also averaged over six YPC against Tampa Bay, who has only allowed three YPC to opposing running backs all year. Further, in Week 1, Sanders had 15 carries and four receptions, which translated to just over 17 PPR points with no touchdowns. If Sanders can combine that usage with his efficiency and a touchdown against a mid-tier run offense, he could bring serious upside out of nowhere.

Brandin Cooks ($6,500)

It feels like we’re getting Brandin Cooks at a discount this week. Cooks is coming off his third game with 10 or more targets after two slow weeks prior against the Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots, two of the tougher defenses in the league. This week he faces an Arizona defense that is in the bottom ten against receivers. Further, Cooks has only scored one touchdown this season, which is likely to trend upward over the remainder of the season, and this week provides a good opportunity for some junk time against an Arizona defense that is likely to be up big.

Contrarian Move

Tua Tagovailoa ($7,100), Jaylen Waddle ($5,900), Mike Gesicki ($6,000)

Correlate: Calvin Ridley ($7,300)

As mentioned earlier, I really like this matchup between Miami and Atlanta, and I think there is sneaky value on the Miami side of this game. Tua Tagovailoa is coming off a 300-yard week where he scored two touchdowns, both of which went to Waddle, who was targeted 13 times last week. Additionally, Mike Gesicki is coming off a game with his most targets from Tagovailoa, as this pass offense is getting rolling. If you’re looking to place a bet on an uncommon stack, this Miami offense is the way to go.
