NHL Best Bet of the Day – Bruins vs. Panthers (2024)

In lieu of a couple of games overseas this past weekend, the NHL Regular Season (North American edition) makes its highly-anticipated debut this evening. Let’s take a deep dive and examine my favorite NHL best bet between the Boston Bruins (0-0-0) and defending champion, Florida Panthers (0-0-0).

All NHL odds and lines are current as of Monday, October 7th, at 8:30 PM, and courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

NHL Best Bet of the Day – Bruins vs. Panthers

Our NHL best bet of the day will be between Boston and Florida. Specifically, it will target Bruins centerman Elias Lindholm to record a single point on the road against the Cats at (+100) odds on a single-unit wager.

Given how this is the opening game of the 2024-25 campaign, combined with the inconsistency that arises from preseason games, much of our analysis will stem from Lindholm’s on-ice exposure/opportunity rather than statistically/analytically-driven.

After signing a mammoth $54.25M/7-year free agent contract with the Bruins in the off-season, Lindholm was brought in to stabilize the middle of the ice, provide strong two-way play, and be a significant contributor specifically in the offensive zone.

Tonight, Lindholm is expected to feature on Jim Montgomery’s top line alongside sniper David Pastrnak and the ever-crafty Pavel Zacha. In addition, he’s also presumed to center Boston’s top power-play unit, which should provide him with plenty of good looks and prime opportunities to create offense.

One statistical reference of relevance that bodes well for prospective bettors would be that Lindholm has posted a career 53.3% Corsi-For Percentage at Even Strength. A CF% above 50% translates to his team being in control of the puck more often than not with him on the ice in all situations, per Pro Hockey Reference.

Look for Lindholm to hit his point prop at an attractive (+100) price point.
