Nick Chubb Fantasy 2024 Outlook – Comeback Season?

0

The 2024 fantasy football season is fast approaching and many drafts will be taking place over the next few weeks. Football is officially back as preseason games have begun. One player who is gaining some traction this offseason is Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb. Will Chubb return earlier than hoped for from the gruesome injury he sustained in 2023? How much time will he miss? How effective will he be once he returns? So many questions – so much unknown. Let’s dive into the Nick Chubb fantasy football outlook.

I’ll dive into Chubb’s 2024 fantasy football value, analyzing last year’s performance, his current team dynamics, and his potential for the upcoming season. Then, I’ll explore his strengths and potential red flags. Whether you’re contemplating drafting him or trading for him in your dynasty league, this comprehensive analysis will help you make an informed decision whether to have Chubb on your fantasy football teams or not.

RB Nick Chubb Fantasy Football Outlook

All Chubb has done since entering the league in 2018 is be a highly productive running back. He has finished as the RB15, RB8, RB13 (missed 4 games) RB11 (missed 3 games), and RB6. Over six seasons with the Browns, Chubb has totaled 1,238 carries for 6,511 rushing yards and 48 touchdowns.

Unfortunately, Chubb only played in two regular season games last year before suffering a gruesome knee injury. He underwent two surgeries to repair his medial capsule, meniscus, and medial collateral and anterior cruciate ligaments. However, he’s bounced back from brutal injuries in the past. Can he do it again at 28 years old? Let’s look at Nick Chubb’s fantasy outlook for 2024.

Nick Chubb 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Despite Chubb showing off in the weight room, he is almost certainly to miss the start of the season. Early estimates peg Chubb to return during Weeks 6-8 at best. For 2024 fantasy football purposes, his outlook is questionable, to say the least.

Chubb sustained a similar injury to the one he had in 2016 during his sophomore year at Georgia. He was able to return the next year and put up elite numbers. However, asking a running back to overcome a second serious injury to the same knee is a lot to ask of any player. Especially an NFL running back at his age. Nick Chubb Dynasty Football Outlook

Chubb will be turning 29 this December and his current dynasty fantasy football ADP is dropping.

If your team is not a contending one, you need to take anything you can get for Chubb. The problem is, will anyone want to trade anything for a soon-to-be 29-year-old back coming off his second major knee injury?

If you have Chubb on your roster, your only hope is that he returns before your league’s trade deadline; he has a good game or two and hopefully, recoup a 3rd or 4th round pick for him.

Conversely, if you have a team that can win a championship, I would consider trading a 4th before Chubb returns to game action and maybe a 3rd, only if Chubb returns and has a good game or two. I’ve always said, I would rather have a chocolate bar than a 4th or even 3rd round pick.

Nick Chubb Fantasy – Final Thoughts

Chubb’s current ADP in redraft leagues is RB29 and 87th overall (early 8th-round pick) which seems a bit high considering all the unknowns. Diontae Johnson and Javonte Williams are two players whose ADP is right after Chubb’s, and two players I would rather draft over him.

If you have a bigger roster size in your league, I would entertain drafting Chubb with a 10th-round pick or later, hoping to put him in your IR slot, with the hope of him helping you for a playoff push and ultimately winning a championship. Just make sure to select Jerome Ford (ADP40) who can you plug in until Chubb returns.
