Odell Beckham Jr. Signs One-Year Deal with Los Angeles Rams

Odell Beckham Jr. has agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Rams. This comes just less than a week after he was released by the Cleveland Browns after reports of dissension within the roster. The Rams just made an acquisition before the trade deadline passed when they brought in Von Miller from the Denver Broncos, which was clearly another sign of big expectations this season.

Fantasy Implications

A move like this is bound to affect the fantasy landscape in some ways. The biggest implications of this move come in the departure from Cleveland. Jarvis Landry should see a more consistent stream of targets headed his way. Rashard Higgins and Donovan Peoples-Jones are likely the biggest benefactors from the move.

For Los Angeles, the only player who really might see a positive bump in production would be Matthew Stafford. It may not be a huge spike, but adding a receiver like Beckham to the mix of Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, Van Jefferson, and Tyler Higbee provides more reliable options for the veteran signal-caller. Jefferson possibly takes the biggest negative hit in fantasy viability as there are so many options for the offense to use when moving the ball downfield.

As for Beckham, himself, he definitely makes the passing game more dangerous for opposing defenses. With all the mouths to feed on offense, it’s not likely that Beckham sees any immediate production. It remains to be seen exactly how much he and the other pass catcher will be utilized from here on out, but I don’t recommend making an aggressive move to acquire him in your fantasy leagues.
