Rachaad White 2024 Fantasy Outlook: Is He A Risky Pick?
The 2024 fantasy football season is fast approaching and you will be making decisions on who to draft or not to draft soon in your fantasy league. One situation I am intrigued about and entirely puzzled by is the fall in ADP of Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White.
In this article, we’ll dive into White’s 2024 fantasy football value, analyzing last year’s performance, his current team dynamics, and his potential for the upcoming season. We’ll explore his strengths, and potential red flags, and compare him to other running backs in the league. Whether you’re contemplating drafting him or trading for him in your dynasty league, this comprehensive analysis will help you make an informed decision on whether White’s fall in ADP is justified or not.
RB Rachaad White Fantasy Value
Rachaad White is heading into his third season in the NFL and had a breakout sophomore season last year. He finished the season with just over 1500 total yards and 9 touchdowns. In half PPR leagues, he finished as the RB7 and in PPR leagues he finished as the RB4 just behind Christian McCaffrey, Breece Hall, and Travis Etienne. White finished the year with 64 receptions, clearly giving him an edge in PPR leagues. Needless to say, his pass-catching upside is fantastic and his workload should be pretty safe.
Fantasy Football Outlook
Heading into this 2024 NFL season, White is being valued as an RB2 as his ADP is currently RB15. According to 4for4 since May 30th of this year, White’s ADP has gone down almost 10 spots from 38.8 to 48.7 overall. Yet he finished as the RB4 last year in PPR leagues! Why the sudden drop for White? Is the fantasy community scared of 4th round pick Bucky Irving putting a dent into White’s workload? Irving can help himself to all the Chase Edmonds and Sean Tucker backup touches. White should be the primary ball carrier and receive a healthy dose of touches in the Buccaneers’ backfield.
According to @FAmmiranteTFJ on X, White is the only running back who had 60+% route participation and 60+% rush attempts last season. Notably, he had a total of 336 touches last season. Needless to say, this is elite RB1 usage from a running back who is being drafted as an RB2.
Dynasty Football Outlook
Currently, White’s dynasty fantasy football ADP is RB12. He will be turning 26 near the end of the football season. Personally, I am indifferent on whether to acquire or to sell White. All things considered, a case can be made for either side. I’d be happy to sell or to keep him depending on the circumstances when it comes to trade offers and team build.
Conclusion
Ultimately, I am more confident in White from a redraft perspective than a dynasty one. At worst, White will be an RB2 this upcoming year. Yet, he has the ceiling and usage to be a high-end RB1. The best part about him is that with his current ADP in redraft leagues, you don’t have to draft White as an RB1. A potential RB1 at a discounted RB2 price? Yes, please!
