Fantasy Football Outlook: After 7 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, Ezekiel Elliott has officially been released. This isn’t too surprising, as we’ve slowly seen the decline for Elliott over the last couple of seasons. Not to mention, the emergence of Tony Pollard who was recently placed on the franchise tag.
That being said, Ronald Jones now steps into this Cowboys backfield as nothing more than a depth piece. Dallas should still be viewed as a potential landing spot for a top rookie running back in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft.
Last year, Jones spent the season with the Chiefs and had just 17 carries and one reception on the year. To make matters worse, he was only active for six games. Now, Jones should serve as the primary backup to Pollard, until further notice. In dynasty leagues, he’s worth holding on to if you have the roster space, but don’t go out of your way to acquire him. He’ll need either an injury to Pollard or a miracle to return to fantasy relevancy. Or a combination of both.
