In the 2024 NFL offseason, Saquon Barkley found a new home when he departed the New York Giants for the Philadelphia Eagles, a division rival. This move took many by surprise. Although Giants fans were prepared for his departure, it was especially tough to swallow knowing that he was joining the Eagles. Barkley, who graduated from Whitehall High School just outside of Allentown, Pennsylvania, finds himself in the best offense of his career.

This article will delve into Barkley’s 2024 fantasy football outlook, analyzing his previous performances, current team dynamics, and potential for the upcoming season. We’ll explore his strengths and potential red flags and compare him to other elite running backs in the league. Whether you’re considering drafting him early or trading for him in your dynasty league, this comprehensive analysis will help you decide whether you should pay a premium price to draft Barkley for your fantasy team.

RB Saquan Barkley Fantasy Value

Barkley is entering his seventh season as an NFL running back. The talented RB signed a three-year, $37.75 million contract with $26 million in guaranteed money this offseason. Now, he finds himself in the best offense of his career.

The Eagles are two years removed from a Super Bowl appearance and are looking to get back. Barkley is a clear upgrade from D’Andre Swift, whom the Eagles brought in via trade in 2023 and later let walk this offseason.

Last year, Barkley finished 9th in fantasy points per game. He dealt with a high ankle sprain that hindered his ability to cut as effectively as we know he can. Despite this, he still managed to rack up 1,242 all-purpose yards, 10 total touchdowns, and 41 total receptions on the year. It’s no secret that Barkley was the entire offense in New York and that the Giants were ranked 30th in run blocking per Pro Football Focus. He will be playing behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.

Fantasy Football Outlook

As we enter 2024, Barkley is being drafted as the 6th running back in 12-team PPR leagues. He has a chance to finish the season as the RB1 in his first season with the Eagles. This offense is extremely talented and will sustain more drives than Barkley has ever been exposed to. Kellen Moore was a nice addition at offensive coordinator this offseason, so their identity will look a little different.

Personally, I believe Hurts will receive fewer rushing attempts at the goal line, allowing Barkley more opportunities than he was given in his time with the Giants. If D’Andre Swift can have the best season of his career with the Eagles, it makes you wonder what kind of season Barkley can also have.

Dynasty Football Outlook

Many in the dynasty fantasy football community value Barkley as the RB 8-10. At 27 years old, he is expected to maintain RB1 status for the next 2-3 years. If you are a title contender this season, Barkley can definitely help push your team towards victory.

Conclusion

Overall, Barkley will be crucial to the Eagles’ offensive success in 2024. He is poised to thrive this season, but the only obstacle seems to be himself.
