0

Welcome back to another edition of Scouting the Nation. In this series, we take a look at college football players that you need to get to know before the season kicks off. Whether you’re a hardcore college football fan, looking at the 2025 NFL Draft, or looking to bolster your Devy rosters, this is for you.

In this edition of Scouting the Nation, we take a look at a pass rusher from Marshall ready to blow up this season. Additionally, we’ll cover two secondary players who already have top-100 tape.

Scouting the Nation – 3 Defenders for 2025

Mike Green DE Marshall

The best way to describe Mike Green is an explosive and twitched-up superstar off the edge. A Virginia transfer, Green had his first real action this past season, and he made the most of it. Impressively, he recorded 4.5 sacks and nine tackles for a loss in under 350 snaps. Green has an excellent first step to go along with the bend to win the outside track. His athleticism was hard for tackles to keep up with.

Furthermore, Marshall lined him up all over the defensive line, and he was able to get pressure wherever he was asked to rush from. Additionally, Green was also a great run defender. He can set the edge and disengage from linemen, and that explosiveness showed up in pursuit. The top prospect in his conference, Green, will be on the short list of contenders to lead the country in sacks this fall.

Brandon Adams CB UCF

A tall, long, and physical cornerback, Brandon Adams is very fluid for a player of his size. Notably, he did a great job of staying in phase in man coverage and didn’t give up separation on the film I watched. Opponents didn’t target Adams, and for good reason.

Moreover, Adams is willing to get involved as a run defender and doesn’t miss tackles. He plays the ball well in the air, but the turnover production hasn’t come yet because teams avoid throwing his way. All in all, the traits, tape, and upside make Adams a clear top two-round selection. More importantly, he has the ability to rise with a good pre-draft process.

Kamari Ramsey DS USC

A home run get for the Trojans, Kamari Ramsey is a complete safety who plays with a thumper mentality. Ramsey can be an impact defender all the way from single-high to in the box. He’s a well-built player who has fluid hips and a very good closing burst. Ramsey comes downhill in a hurry and has the instincts to diagnose and make a play on the ball. He’s an elite run defender and takes precise angles to ball carriers.

There was a level of control from Ramsey out on the field that’s rare to see from such a young prospect. He doesn’t get manipulated by the quarterback’s eyes, and Ramsey always seems to be in the right position. Overall, he is the best draft-eligible player on USC’s roster and should be an early-round pick whenever he declares.
