Scouting the Nation: Offensive Linemen on the Rise
Today, we’re taking a look at two talented offensive linemen who have been on the rise as of late.
Giovanni El-Hadi OG Michigan
With the sheer number of upperclassmen ahead of him, El-Hadi has only three career starts. That being said, when on the field, his tape has been very impressive. Additionally, he’s a plus athlete who works really well as a puller and climbing to the second level. El-Hadi is well-built and possesses the natural power to displace defenders.
Furthermore, El-Hadi is excellent on combo blocks and has the clamp strength to sustain his block throughout the entire rep. Overall, he is the best starter on the Michigan offensive line, and he’ll show that with more experience next season. Michigan produces NFL offensive linemen, and El-Hadi is next up.
Fa’alili Fa’amoe OT Washington State
Pretty much every tackle struggled to handle Washington’s duo, in Bralen Trice and Zion Tupuola-Fetui, but Fa’amoe won his one-on-one matchups against them. He did really well against Brandon Dorlus of Oregon, too. Fa’amoe is a natural knee bender, with the foot quickness to protect his outside shoulder. He uses an effective jump set and mirrors defenders at a high level in pass protection.
At contact, his punch jolts defenders, disrupting their rush. Fa’amoe mixed up his hand usage and displayed an impressive snatch-trap against Trice. In the run game, Fa’amoe is explosive off the ball, consistently showing the natural power he has in his hands. At the next level, Fa’amoe will excel as a puller and when working in space. All in all, Fa’amoe is talented, with the upside to suggest he can be a starting right tackle in the NFL.
