NFL Player Props Week 14: TNF Packers vs. Lions
While fans will have their eyes glued to the game, watching every play with the utmost attention, sports bettors only care about making money. However, which prop bets will lead to cash in their pockets? Here are my five favorite prop bets for Thursday’s game.
Jared Goff Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (-110)
It’s common knowledge that Goff plays better in a dome than outdoors, especially when the game is at Ford Field. Thankfully, the veteran quarterback is at home on Thursday night. He has averaged 1.8 passing touchdowns per game this season, including two per contest in his six home matchups. Furthermore, Goff has had two or more passing touchdowns in three of his past four games, including a four-score performance at home in Week 11.
Bettors shouldn’t be surprised if the veteran quarterback has three or more touchdowns against the Packers (+290). Goff has averaged three passing touchdowns per game over his past three home contests, totaling three or more twice. More importantly, he has had two passing touchdowns in every home game in his career against Green Bay as a member of the Lions. Meanwhile, the Packers gave up two passing touchdowns to Tua Tagovailoa last week.
Jordan Love Over 247.5 Passing Yards (-115)
Unfortunately, Love wasn’t healthy when these two teams faced off in Week 9. The star quarterback played through a groin injury he suffered in the previous game. Yet, he finished with 273 passing yards against the division rivals. More importantly, the former Utah State star has averaged 251.8 passing yards per game this season. Love has had 258 or more in 60% of the games, including three of the past four.
Furthermore, the star quarterback has had at least 246 passing yards in every career matchup against Detroit, including over 267 yards in back-to-back meetings. Meanwhile, the Lions’ defense has struggled to stop quarterbacks from totaling passing yards. Detroit has surrendered 243.7 passing yards per game to quarterbacks. Yet, that average has been deflated because of matchups against awful quarterbacks, including Mac Jones. Last week, Caleb Williams had 256 passing yards against the division rivals.
David Montgomery Over 15.5 Receiving Yards (-110)
Many think Jahmyr Gibbs gets all the work in the passing game, while Montgomery is just a hammer running back. However, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Montgomery has only one fewer reception and five fewer receiving yards than Gibbs this season. More importantly, the veteran running back has been a consistent part of the passing game. He has averaged 23.1 receiving yards per game, totaling 17 or more in 75% of the contests.
The former Iowa State star has been outstanding lately. Montgomery has averaged 26.1 receiving yards per game over the past seven weeks, totaling 20 or more in all but one contest, including 36 in back-to-back matchups. Furthermore, he had 23 receiving yards in the matchup against Green Bay in Week 9. Meanwhile, the Packers have surrendered 41.9 receiving yards per game to running backs this season, including 71 per contest over their past two outings.
Josh Jacobs Over 68.5 Rushing Yards (-135)
Thankfully, Jacobs is off the injury report and ready to play Thursday night after being a limited participant in practice all week because of a calf injury. He has played well this season, averaging 82.3 rushing yards per game. Last week, the star running back struggled against the Miami Dolphins, totaling a season-low 43 rushing yards. However, Jacobs had averaged 96 rushing yards per game over his previous five contests, totaling 76 or more in every matchup.
Meanwhile, the Lions have one of the top run defenses in the league. They’ve held running backs to 795 rushing yards, the third-fewest in the NFL, surrendering only 66.3 per game. However, Detroit will be without several defensive linemen for this NFC North contest, including D.J. Reader (shoulder), Joshua Paschal (knee), and Levi Onwuzurike (hamstring). Jacobs had 95 rushing yards on only 13 attempts when these two teams faced off in Week 9.
Jameson Williams Over 48.5 Receiving Yards (-115)
Williams is one of the top big-play wide receivers in the NFL. He has had 76 or more receiving yards on three or fewer receptions twice this season. More importantly, the former Alabama star has averaged 63 receiving yards per game this year, totaling 50 or more in 70% of the contests. Furthermore, Williams has played well since returning from his two-game suspension. He has averaged 67.3 receiving yards per game over the past four weeks.
Furthermore, Williams had 53 or more receiving yards in three of those matchups, including 124 yards a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, Jaire Alexander won’t play tonight because of a knee injury. Meanwhile, Green Bay has lucked out facing some poor passing attacks this season. However, they gave up over 52 receiving yards to four different Miami Dolphins last week. Williams had 51 receiving yards on only two receptions in his previous matchup against the Packers.
