The 4-7 Bears are looking to right the ship after losing 5 straight games and are on the outside looking in of the NFC wildcard picture. Unfortunately, that task comes headlong into a matchup with who most would agree is the best-looking football team in the NFL, the Detroit Lions. Although this matchup at first glance may appear to be a one-sided affair, and in all honestly may be the case with the Lions handling the Bears in the early window, don’t sleep on this Bears offense, and more specifically, do not sleep on Bears rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze.
NFL Best Bet Week 13 Thanksgiving – Bears vs. Lions
Odunze has been building a strong rapport with fellow rookie quarterback Caleb Williams over the last few weeks. However, that rapport has not led to wins or big-time production. Yet. Hopefully, this week could be that week for Odunze.
Over his last 7 games, Odunze has crossed the 6 target threshold six different times and has had 39 yards or more in 6 of his last seven games. DraftKings currently has his prop of 40+ yards set at -145 which is a tantalizing prop, however when you take a deeper look into the Detroit Lions’ defense and more specifically their secondary, I believe there’s a smarter bet that can be placed on Odunze to kickstart the Thanksgiving slate.
When you look at the defensive stats for the Detroit Lions in the season according to ESPN, they give up an average of 227 passing yards a game. Additionally, an average of 29.3 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. Also, those numbers don’t take into account the recent loss of personnel. Notably, starting cornerback Carlton Davis, starting Linebacker Alex Anzalone, and of course the notable loss of Aiden Hutchinson on October 19th. With Davis being out, this means that rookie Terrion Arnold will take the reigns as the lead corner.
In the meantime, Khalil Dorsey is expected to take over in Davis’ absence. Arnold has been one of the most targeted (60 targets with 35 completions for 384 yards and 3 touchdowns) and subsequently most penalized corner in the NFL this year (6 pass interference penalties, 2 defensive holding calls). With the combination of injuries and the Lions’ susceptibility to the pass, the Bears receiving corp could be in for a big statistical day. More specifically, WR Odunze could be in line for a big day.
On DraftKings, the most tantalizing prop bet for Odunze would be his receiving prop on the alt line. 50+ receiving yards is currently sitting at +105 and could net a nice little profit to the wallet or account of those who take the chance on that bet. If plus money on a receiving yards bet, then you could take the chance on Odunze’s anytime touchdown bet is currently sitting at +310 odds, which in my opinion is that any touchdown bet is a bit of a fluke. I would feel much more confident in the receiving yards prop and for Odunze 50+ receiving yards as my NFL best bet for this Week 13 Thanksgiving slate.
