4 NFL Player Prop Bets Week 16 Broncos vs. Chargers (TNF)
Week 16 of the 2024 NFL season kicks off on Thursday Night Football. This week, we have a classic AFC West matchup between the Denver Broncos (9-5) and the Los Angeles Chargers (8-6). This game kicks off at 8:15 PM, EST. Today, I’ll be breaking down the top NFL player prop bets for Week 16 between the Broncos and Chargers. Continue reading to check out our top player prop bets in this TNF matchup.
This week is crucial, especially for those of you in the semifinals of your fantasy football leagues. However, there are plenty of opportunities for sports bettors to win some money in this one as well.
NFL Player Prop Bets Week 16: TNF Broncos vs. Chargers
Tonight, Justin Herbert and the Chargers look to bounce back after getting embarrassed 40-17 by Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers. Meanwhile, Bo Nix and the Broncos are coming off a 31-13 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Here are my four favorite NFL player prop bets for Monday’s game.
All props are from DraftKings Sportsbook.
Justin Herbert Over 232.5 Passing Yards
First up is Herbert’s passing yardage as it’s currently set at 232.5. While the Broncos are tough against opposing quarterbacks, Herbert should be forced to throw plenty in this one. He’s been dealing with an ankle injury, which could force him to lean on the passing game even more. Additionally, the rushing attack has been virtually non-existent since losing JK Dobbins to an MCL injury back in Week 12.
Back in Week 6, these two teams faced off in Denver. The Broncos were able to win this one 23-16. More importantly, Herbert threw 34 passes for 237 yards in Week 6. Look for Herbert to go over that mark once again this week.
Kimani Vidal Under 44.5 Rushing Yards
This might be one of the safer picks on the slate. It’s no secret, rookie Kimani Vidal has shown some flashes and given managers in dynasty fantasy football leagues some hope. However, he has yet to surpass 34 rushing yards in a game this year. Unfortunately, this offense has been struggling to run the ball after losing Dobbins. Meanwhile, Gus Edwards has also struggled. However, Vidal saw 35 offensive snaps last week to Edwards’ 14.
In the last three games without Dobbins, Vidal has gone 4 for 20, 8 for 34, and 3 for 9 rushing yards. Additionally, this Broncos defense is a tough matchup for opposing running backs. Coming off a game with just 5 total touches, it’s very tough to trust these LA running backs.
Courtland Sutton Over 62.5 Receiving Yards
One of the most pleasant surprises this year on this offense has been veteran WR Courtland Sutton. So far, he’s racked up 878 yards and 6 touchdowns. Additionally, he’s already at 113 targets on the year, which is already the second-most he’s seen in his 7-year NFL career.
Nix has leaned heavily on Sutton this year and should do that again tonight. Prior to last week where he had just 32 receiving yards on 3 receptions, Sutton was cooking. Notably, he has 3 100+ receiving-yard performances in his last 7 games. Additionally, he had one with 97 yards.
Sutton has hit the over on this mark in 6 of his last 7 games and should do the same against a fairly weak Chargers passing defense. The Chargers also just gave up a massive 159-yard performance to Mike Evans. With two touchdowns as well. Sutton is also +170 to score an anytime TD this week.
Stone Smartt Over 28.5 Receiving Yards
To go along with our Herbert player prop bet, I’m targeting Smartt’s receiving yard line. Set at 28.5 yards, Smartt has gone over this mark in two straight games, with 54 and 50 yards in his last two games.
Since veteran TE Will Dissly has already been ruled out for Week 16 with a shoulder injury, Smartt will step up once again. For what it’s worth, Smartt is also a solid add off the waiver wire for this week if you’re in need of a tight end replacement. Don’t be surprised if Smartt is once again featured in this offense.
