These players will not always be the most obvious start or sit candidates. No one needs to tell you to start Ja’Marr Chase or Bijan Robinson every week. However, these players will likely be your Flex options or players you’re potentially on the fence about as your RB2 or WR3. Continue reading for our Week 6 start em sit em. As always, hit us up on all forms of social media with any lineup questions. Let’s get into it.

Week 6 Start Em Sit Em

Your Week 6 NFL start em sit em decisions will be crucial for getting your fantasy football team on a path to the playoffs. As the season continues, it’s vital to adapt to changes and play the matchups. More importantly, to determine which players are poised for big performances and which ones might struggle.

Whether you’re considering a breakout running back or grabbing a sleeper wide receiver off the waiver wire, making smart choices in your Week 6 is vital to fantasy football success. Let’s find a way to get another win as we head into Week 6.

Quarterbacks

START – Caleb Williams QB Chicago Bears

Rookie Caleb Williams is coming off his first top-12 QB finish and his highest fantasy total of the season. The rookie has taken off after a slow start to the season, scoring double digits in each of his past three games after not reaching that mark in his first two games. Williams now faces the Jaguars who allow the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. For Week 6, you can start Williams with a bit of confidence.

START – Kirk Cousins QB Atlanta Falcons

Kirk Cousins had his breakout performance since joining the Falcons in last week’s victory over the Buccaneers, and he’s in prime position to carry that momentum into Week 5 against the Panthers. Carolina’s defense is giving up the 6th-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks and has allowed 19.5+ points to four different quarterbacks in five games (Derek Carr, Joe Burrow, Caleb Williams, and Raiders QBs). They’ve also conceded at least two passing touchdowns in every game this season.

Known for his efficiency, Cousins should be able to exploit a Panthers secondary that is struggling. Notably, opposing QBs have averaged a 93.2 passer rating against them—ranking in just the 19th percentile.

SIT – Deshaun Watson QB Cleveland Browns

After a disappointing start to the 2024 season, Deshaun Watson is coming off some of his worst performances to date. Last week, he had just 125 yards and one touchdown in a great matchup with the Commanders. So far this year he’s thrown for just 852 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. None of this production is anywhere close to what we saw in the past with the Texans. Notably, he hasn’t thrown more than 200 yards in any games this year. At this point, it wouldn’t even be too surprising if the Browns let Jameis Winston get on the field. If you’re in 1QB leagues, Watson needs to be on your bench until further notice.

Running Backs

START – Tony Pollard RB Tennessee Titans

Tony Pollard is having a stellar fantasy season, surpassing 15 PPR points in three of his four games. Despite sharing some work with Tyjae Spears, Pollard is averaging 18.5 touches per game and has seen at least four targets in three of four outings, elevating his PPR floor. With 14% of his team’s target share, Pollard ranks in the 3rd percentile among running backs in this category. Heading into Week 5, Pollard is set to excel against a Colts run defense that has allowed six different RBs to score 10+ PPR points and saw both Tank Bigsby and Joe Mixon eclipse 25 PPR points this season.

START – David Montgomery RB Detroit Lions

Quietly becoming one of the most reliable and consistent running backs in fantasy football has to be David Montgomery. While second-year running back Jahmyr Gibbs gets all of the hype, Montgomery has beyond proven himself. Gibbs is currently the RB14 on the season while Montgomery is the RB16. Meanwhile, both have run for 4 rushing touchdowns this year.

It may seem a bit obvious, but Montgomery is absolutely a must-start until further notice. With Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Sam LaPorta, this offense has quickly become one of the most lethal in the NFL. Start Montgomery in Week 6 with a juicy matchup on paper against the Cowboys.

SIT – Rachaad White RB Tampa Bay Buccaneers

One of the bigger disappointments this year in fantasy football has been Rachaad White of the Buccaneers. Despite this offense and Baker Mayfield putting up numbers, White just isn’t getting enough volume to warrant a start. Not to mention, when he does get the ball, he’s averaging 3.7 YPC. To make matters worse, he hasn’t scored a single touchdown yet this year.

Notably, White is averaging 0.7 fantasy points per opportunity, per FantasyData, which is one of the worst in the league for running backs.

Meanwhile, rookie running back Bucky Irving looks explosive when he gets the ball and is slowly getting more involved. White also has three games with just 10 carries and one game with 6 carries. Between the usage decreasing and the emergence of Irving, there’s no reason to start White right now. The best thing White might have going for him right now is health, considering all of the injuries this year.

Wide Receivers

START – Terry McLaurin WR Washington Commanders

Terry McLaurin is thriving in one of the NFL’s most prolific offenses, surpassing 15 PPR points in three consecutive games. He’s developed strong chemistry with rookie Jayden Daniels, seeing at least eight targets in three of his last four outings. In a projected shootout against the Ravens, McLaurin has an excellent opportunity to shine. The Ravens’ secondary has struggled, allowing 17+ PPR points to five different wide receivers in five games, with four of those surpassing 20 points, including Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase last week. McLaurin commands 27.1% of his team’s targets and averages 104.8 air yards per game, both ranking above the 94th percentile.

SIT – Michael Pittman Jr. WR Indianapolis Colts

It sounds like Anthony Richardson will return in Week 6, which is bad news for Michael Pittman Jr. fantasy managers. Pittman has had his best two performances of the season over the past two weeks with Joe Flacco filling in for the injured Richardson. Now facing Tennessee, who have allowed the fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers, I’m benching Pittman regardless of who plays QB for the Colts on Sunday. – Daman Zimbelman @DamanZimbelman

Tight Ends

START – Jake Ferguson TE Dallas Cowboys

Jake Ferguson is quickly approaching must-start status in fantasy. Since missing Week 2 with a minor knee injury, he’s delivered over 11.9 PPR points in three consecutive games. His Week 1 struggles were due to leaving the game early because of that same injury. While Jalen Tolbert is emerging, Ferguson remains Dak Prescott‘s clear No. 2 option, seeing 7+ targets in three straight games. Though he has yet to score a touchdown this season, he’s caught six passes for 49 yards as a floor since Week 3.

Furthermore, Ferguson is being targeted on 25.2% of his routes and averaging 54.3 air yards per game. Impressively, both metrics rank above the 90th percentile for tight ends. Although the matchup against the Lions is tough on paper, as they’ve only allowed 10+ PPR points to one tight end. Overall, Ferguson’s consistent volume and solid floor make him a viable option this week.

SIT – Dalton Kincaid TE Buffalo Bills

Heading into the 2024 season, Dalton Kincaid was a very popular breakout candidate. Unfortunately, he’s been below average and is currently the TE12 in PPR. He’s also averaging 22 air yards per game, which is the 21st for all tight ends. Needless to say, Kincaid has been a disappointment and now he gets a tough matchup with the Jets.

The Jets currently are the third-toughest defense against opposing tight ends and held George Kittle to 40 yards and Hunter Henry to just 9 yards, both without a touchdown. You may not have better options, so you should certainly temper your expectations for Kincaid this week.

Streaming DSTs

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Cleveland Browns

Despite being one of the worst defenses in the league this year, the Philadelphia Eagles are a solid streaming option for Week 6. This week, they are at home against Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns. The Eagles are in a get-right spot after their bye week and desperately will be looking to get on track.

This point total is average, at 43.5 for the week. With a banged-up offensive line for the Browns in combination with the poor quarterback play, this could be a breakout week for the Eagles defense. Look for the Eagles to apply plenty of pressure on Watson and bounce back after the bye week. Notably, this Eagles DST is currently rostered in just 21% of Sleeper leagues as well.

The Eagles’ next three games are against the Browns, at the Giants, and at the Bengals. You could very well use them for this week as well as in Week 7.

Denver Broncos vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Coming off a solid week against the Raiders, the Broncos were a solid streaming DST option last week. Now, they get the Chargers at home and their roster percentage is fairly high on Sleeper at 75%. That being said, the Broncos defense is legit and deserves some respect at this point.

This week, the Broncos face Justin Herbert and a mediocre Chargers offense. This could very well be a low-scoring affair as the total is currently at 35.5, making it the lowest total on the slate. Denver also gets three juicy matchups in a row, making them a must-roster at this point.

The Broncos’ next three games are against the Chargers, at the Saints, and back home against the Panthers.
