The 2024 NFL Draft is just a few months old, but it is never too early to look ahead to 2025. Events past have made the NFL Draft Steelers look like champions, restocking the cupboard with talented and versatile players.

Upcoming team changes can influence sportsbooks that offer various promotions. As the team ebbs and flows, so do the odds. Their performance over the course of 2024 will influence any 2025 NFL mock draft Steelers selections.

Who are some of the names that we could see in the Steelers NFL Draft in 2025? Let’s take a long look ahead at the 2025 NFL mock draft Steelers picks that could change the shape of the franchise moving forward.

Top Prospects

There are a few names that could be available around the middle of the first round (where the Steelers are being predicted to land). Deone Walker, a sophomore from Kentucky, is tantalizing. At 6’6” 348 lbs, he is a monster with freakish pass-rush skills. Putting him with T.J. Watt would be terrifying for opposing offensive linemen.

The Steelers could also opt to go offense. Luther Burden III out of Missouri has the kind of ceiling that Steelers receivers haven’t had in a while outside of George Pickens. If the Russell Wilson experiment goes past Year 1, it may be time to add another talented pass catcher.

Then again, defense has been the bread and butter for head coach Mike Tomlin. Adding a talented corner like Will Johnson of Michigan could revitalize the defense. He has good size at 6’2” and 200 lbs and he has proven himself to be highly productive in college.

Other names that bear watching are Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka, Georgia OT Earnest Greene III, Texas OT Kelvin Banks Jr., and Michigan DT Kenneth Grant.

Drafting Strategy

The Steelers do well in the draft partially because they don’t reach. They take the best player available and find a fit for them. If the Steelers narrowly miss out on the playoffs, adding a very good player in the middle of the first round can be a difference-maker.

Though it will be enticing to address the need for a quarterback of the future, safety/corner (Travis Hunter from Colorado is interesting). or the defensive line has the ability to make an immediate impact. There are talented pieces all over the roster and bringing in a stud rookie will only make things stronger.

The 2024 Season. At the end of the day, what they do during the season will impact the NFL Draft Steelers’ approach. They have doubters each year, but Tomlin has yet to have a losing season in the black and gold.

While they have a tall task ahead of them in attempting to win the AFC North, the playoffs should be within reach. If they can get over the hump and play in January, their needs will look much different going into the Steelers NFL Draft.

For the last two decades, the Steelers have been great at finding gems and plugging holes. That will be the strategy going forward for the foreseeable future.
