Welcome to our NFL single-game breakdown for Thursday Night Football of Week 15. This article will provide a quick analysis of players to consider on FanDuel for this matchup between the Chiefs @ Chargers. We’re excited to announce that The FF Faceoff is an official Affiliate of FanDuel, so if you haven’t signed up, do so here. Let’s get right to it in Thursday Night NFL FanDuel Picks: Chiefs @ Chargers.

The Kansas City Chiefs, winners of six straight games, head over to California to take on the Los Angeles Chargers in a contest that could decide the AFC West. Currently, the Chiefs are three points favorites in a game featuring a 52 point total. For the Chiefs, Josh Gordon has been ruled out after testing positive for COVID. The Chargers list Austin Ekeler as questionable, but he is expected to play.

MVP Options

Justin Herbert ($16,500)

Justin Herbert comes into this week averaging 23.59 FanDuel points per game. Herbert has thrown over 30 passes in every game this season and the previous time they played Kansas City he threw 38 times with just shy of 31 FanDuel points. The Chiefs defense is allowing the 8th most FanDuel points to opposing quarterbacks this season at 19.5 per game.

Keenan Allen ($12,000)

Keenan Allen has been a target monster all season while getting double-digit targets in eight of 12 games this season. He is averaging a respectable 10.9 yards per reception but has only four total touchdowns. Given his massive target share and high game total, Allen is in a good spot for some positive regression in the touchdown department.

Flex Plays

Patrick Mahomes ($17,000)

With FanDuel single-game scoring, getting both quarterbacks in a high-scoring affair gives you a massive floor. Quarterbacks provide the ability to consistently put up good numbers, while on most slates both quarterbacks make the optimal lineup. Mahomes faces a difficult matchup against the Chargers pass defense that has allowed the 6th fewest FanDuel points per game to quarterbacks but will still project as one of the top scorers on the slate. With all of the struggles this season for the Cheifs, he has still managed to post over 21 FanDuel points per game.

Travis Kelce ($12,500)

While Kelce has not had the monster Kelce like seasons we are used to seeing, he is still one of the top tight ends in the game and has averaged 12.18 FanDuel points per game. After coming off a poor performance last week, we could get him at discounted ownership in a great matchup. The Chargers have given up 13 points per game to tight ends which is the 5th most in the league. Given the game’s high total, getting to an elite tight end in a great matchup is a top priority.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire ($11,000)

Edwards-Helaire comes into the game off a two-touchdown performance last week. Over the last three weeks, he has had carry totals of 10,12, and 14. While he has not gotten a lot of volume recently, he now gets a great matchup with a very weak Chargers run defense. The Chargers give up the 6th most FanDuel points to running backs at 24.9 per game. They have given up second-most rushing yards to running backs this season and have allowed 15 rushing touchdowns.

Harrison Butker ($9,000)

Even with the struggles of the Chiefs offense at times this season, Butker has still proved to be a reliable fantasy kicker and has the 8th most fantasy points by a  kicker. Over his last seven games, he has attempted two or more field goals in all of them along with 16 extra points. He has proven to be a safe play and with a lot of projected points in this game, look for Butker to get plenty of work.

Jalen Guyton ($9,000) and Josh Palmer ($7,500)

These three guys are just salary-saving pieces that can complete your lineups and are cheap stack options with Justin Herbert at the MVP spot. Last week without Keenan Allen, Josh Palmer was the biggest beneficiary garnering seven targets posting a 5-66-1 line against the Giants. However, Guyton also put up good numbers with a 3-87-1 and has seen a two-game stretch of good production. Guyton has been a downfield presence for the Chargers with back-to-back weeks of receptions greater than 40 yards.
