Thursday Night NFL FanDuel Picks: Patriots @ Falcons
Welcome to our single game breakdown for the opening game of Week 11 on Thursday Night Football. This article will provide a quick analysis of players to target on FanDuel for this matchup between the Patriots and Falcons. We’re excited to announce that The FF Faceoff is an official affiliate of FanDuel, so if you haven’t signed up yet, do so here. Let’s get right to it in Thursday Night NFL FanDuel Picks: Patriots @ Falcons.
The New England Patriots, riding a four-game win streak, are set to travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons. The Patriots are currently 7 point favorites and the game features a 47.5 point game total. For the Patriots, wide receiver N’Keal Harry and kicker Nick Folk are listed as questionable. Additionally, Patriots running backs Brandon Bolden and Damien Harris had limited practice sessions Tuesday, and are listed as questionable. If both are going to sit, Rhamondre Stevenson would be a great play. For the Falcons, tight end Hayden Hurst and RB/WR breakout player Cordarrelle Patterson are listed as questionable. Patterson is believed to have an ankle sprain that would have a big impact on this Falcons offense if he were to sit. In his absence, look for either Mike Davis or Wayne Gallman to get more work.
MVP Options
Damien Harris ($13,500) or Rhamondre Stevenson ($13,000)
I believe whichever running back gets this start in this game will be in a great spot to be the slate’s top scorer. The Falcons defense has not been able to slow down opposing running backs. They have given up 25.4 FanDuel points per game to opposing running backs, which is 4th most in the league. They have also given up nine touchdowns on the ground, which is 4th most in the NFL. Damien Harris has averaged 16.8 carries in his last five games and has scored in all of them. If Harris is unable to go, Rhamondre Stevenson makes a great play. Filling in last week, he went for 20-100-2 and has shown the ability to catch balls out of the backfield.
Mac Jones ($15,000)
Mac Jones hasn’t exactly lit the NFL on fire this season but has been solid by averaging 14.4 FanDuel points per game. While those numbers likely will not be an optimal MVP choice, getting this Falcons defense will vault him into the conversation. The Falcons have given up 21.48 FanDuel points per game, which is 3rd most in the league. They have given up the 4th most passing touchdowns at 19 and have only three interceptions. If one of the running backs does not lead the slate in FanDuel points, I see Mac Jones having a great day through the air, as this Falcons defense has shown no resistance this season.
Flex Options
Kyle Pitts ($12,000)
The New England defense is above league average against every single position in terms of FanDuel points per game, so there is no real edge in one specific position. I am just going to bank on the talent of Kyle Pitts to come through in a tough matchup. He has averaged just below eight targets per game over his last six as Ryan’s most reliable pass-catcher. If the Falcons are playing from behind as the line suggests, they will be forced to pass more often and Pitts is the top beneficiary.
Jakobi Meyers ($10,500)
Ladies and gentlemen, it finally happened! Jakobi Meyers scored his first NFL touchdown last week. He owns the record for most career receptions (131) and yards (1,511) before scoring his first touchdown. Despite the fact he has not been able to find the endzone, Meyers has had a consistent workload. He has 50 receptions on 76 targets along with 483 receiving yards. Given the weaker Falcons passing defense, I will be going back to Meyers with his consistent volume.
Value Plays
Wayne Gallman ($6,500)
Wayne Gallman lead this Atlanta backfield last week in carries with 15. If Patterson is unable to play, he could see the majority of carries again this week with Davis struggling. Given the possible workload increase and his price tag, he will be in play.
Younghoe Koo ($8,500)
Given the Atlanta Falcon’s struggles in the red zone, Younghoe Koo is always a prime candidate for a good game. Not only do the Falcons’ red zone struggles give Koo a boost, but he is extremely accurate. He has connected on just under 90% of his field goals with the Falcons and shown the ability to hit longer field goals, which are worth more for fantasy scoring.
