Tony Pollard Fantasy Outlook 2024 – RB1 Season?
The 2024 fantasy football season is close at hand and many fantasy enthusiasts will be participating in drafts this month. Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard is a player who burned many fantasy managers last season. Will Pollard rebound with his new team this season? Will fantasy managers feel scorned or take another chance on the former Cowboys back? Let’s look into Tony Pollard fantasy outlook for 2024 and beyond.
In this article, I’ll dive into Pollard’s 2024 fantasy football value, analyzing last year’s performance, his current team dynamics, and his potential for the upcoming season. Additionally, I’ll explore his strengths and potential red flags. Whether you’re contemplating drafting him or trading for him in your dynasty fantasy football league, this comprehensive analysis will help you make an informed decision on Pollard for the upcoming season.
RB Tony Pollard Fantasy Outlook
Many in the fantasy community were excited last year to see what Pollard could do in a full season without sharing the backfield with Ezekiel Elliot. His 2023 ADP was RB8 and many in the fantasy community were predicting him to finish as a top-five running back – myself included. Unfortunately, Pollard did not live up to expectations and quite frankly was a disappointment. Ultimately, he ended 2023 as the RB14.
During the offseason, the Tennessee Titans were quick to sign Pollard to a three-year $21.75 million dollar contract. He will be joining sophomore Tyjae Spears in the backfield. Let’s continue with the Tony Pollard fantasy outlook for 2024 and in dynasty leagues.
Tony Pollard Fantasy Outlook for 2024
Pollard was a disappointment last year compared to where he was being drafted, the expectations put upon him, and where he eventually finished. However, his total yardage was relatively the same compared to 2022.
The major difference was in touchdowns where in 2022 he scored 12, and last year he only scored 6. The Cowboys gave Pollard plenty of opportunities to score. Notably, he was second in the league with 57 red zone rushes but did not capitalize on them. If Pollard kept pace with his 2022 production with 12 touchdowns, he would have finished as the RB7 ahead of Kyren Williams.
Sharing the backfield with Spears may not be a negative as Pollard’s best season was in 2022 when he shared the backfield with Ezekiel Elliot. More yet, he is also a full year and a half removed from fracturing his leg. As expected, that may have hindered his production last year more than he let on.
Furthermore, with Spears in the backfield, Pollard won’t get the same amount of touches or opportunities he did with Dallas last year. However, the Titans did give Pollard a decent contract for running backs in today’s NFL. Expectations are for him to be the lead back for Tennessee or at worst be the 1A to Spears’ 1B.
Tony Pollard Dynasty Football Outlook
Pollard’s current dynasty fantasy football value is RB22 according to FantasyPros. He will turn 28 years old at the end of the upcoming season, which is normally a red flag for running backs and when their productivity usually starts declining. However, in Pollard’s five-year career, he has logged less than 1,000 total touches, leaving a lot of tread on his tires.
Coming off a disappointing 2023 season and spurning many owners, the cost to acquire Pollard is low. Conversely, it would probably be best to keep Pollard as his value is not high, and hope he turns it around this year.
Conclusion
Pollard’s current ADP is RB27 on FantasyPros. This is an overcorrection the other way compared to last year. Many predicted a top-five finish and a clear indication of how he burned many fantasy managers. At his ADP, Pollard is a running back to target and one who can easily outproduce his ADP.
