Top-12-Quarterback-Rankings-Fantasy-Football-2024

As the 2024 fantasy football season approaches, the quarterback position remains as crucial as ever for building a championship-caliber team. With several emerging stars and established veterans, ranking the top quarterbacks can provide a competitive edge in your draft. In this article, we present our top 12 quarterback rankings for the 2024 fantasy football season, taking into account last season’s performances, off-season changes, and potential upside.

From elite passers with high touchdown potential to dual-threat quarterbacks who rack up points on the ground, these rankings will help you identify the best options to lead your fantasy team. Regardless of your league format, understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each quarterback is essential for making informed decisions. Dive into our comprehensive analysis and get ready to dominate your draft with the top quarterback picks for 2024.

1. Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia Eagles

For 2024, Jalen Hurts gets a new offensive coordinator after the Eagles hired former Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers player-caller Kellen Moore recently. His offenses have traditionally been pass-heavy and have averaged 614 pass attempts a year. It’s unlikely that Hurts throws the ball that much, but fantasy managers should expect an increase in passing compared to years past.

When you combine an increase in passing volume with his rushing abilities, there’s a clear path to an overall QB1 finish. You can confidently draft Hurts and make a case for him being one of the best fantasy options this year.

2. Josh Allen – Buffalo Bills

Like Hurts, Josh Allen also welcomes a new play-caller. Last year’s interim offensive coordinator, Joe Brady, will take over full-time in 2024. Buffalo’s offense threw the ball less and ran the ball more once Brady took over play-calling duties, and we should expect that trend to continue. Fantasy gamers need not worry, though, as Allen will remain a fantasy stud. However, these small worries could be enough to prevent him from finishing as the overall QB1.

3. Patrick Mahomes – Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes was a massive disappointment last year. He finished as the overall QB8 and was only the QB12 in fantasy points per game (PPG) per FantasyPros. Despite all that, he is primed for a bounce-back year after the offseason additions of Marquise Brown and rookie Xavier Worthy. Mahomes is one of the better values in early drafts, as he is being selected in the round four/five range. It’s not often you get a discount on a quarterback with Mahomes’ upside. All things considered, fantasy managers should take advantage in both redraft and dynasty football leagues.

4. Lamar Jackson – Baltimore Ravens

Fresh off capturing his second league MVP award, Lamar Jackson is once again primed for a big year. Baltimore has said they will give Jackson more freedom over the offense in 2024. This bodes well for his fantasy prospects. Jackson is always a threat to finish as the top quarterback and is a rock-solid QB1. He should be drafted as such.

5. Anthony Richardson – Indianapolis Colts

One of 2024’s most popular breakout picks, Anthony Richardson, gave fantasy managers a small taste of his ceiling last year. Needless to say, he looks like a legit fantasy option. When he’s healthy, of course.

Furthermore, Richardson has the kind of upside that can break fantasy football, and his rushing ability gives him a safe floor. Currently, he has an FFPC average draft position (ADP) of 59th overall. If he takes off as a passer, we may not be drafting him high enough.

6. Kyler Murray – Arizona Cardinals

Kyler Murray enters the 2024 season fully healthy after missing nine games last year due to his recovery from a torn ACL. His receiving room got a massive upgrade when the Cardinals selected Marvin Harrison Jr. with the fourth pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. 2023’s breakout tight end, Trey McBride, remains in the mix, and the club also added rookie running back Trey Benson to play alongside incumbent starter James Conner. The skill players surrounding Murray are arguably the best of his career. Plus, he still offers Konami upside at the position. Overall, Murray is one of the best bargains in drafts. Managers would be wise to buy the dip.

7. C.J. Stroud – Houston Texans

Coming off a fantastic rookie campaign, CJ Stroud is a stud, and with the addition of Stefon Diggs, he is undoubtedly primed for a second-year leap. Nonetheless, his lack of rushing upside is a problem for fantasy football purposes. To challenge for overall QB1, Stroud will need to approach 40+ touchdowns and 5,000 passing yards this season. He’s talented enough to do so. It’s just not entirely clear the Texans’ offense will go in that direction.

8. Joe Burrow – Cincinnati Bengals

It’s no secret that 2023 was not Joe Burrow’s year. Unfortunately, he missed time in training camp with a calf injury and would eventually suffer a season-ending wrist injury as well. Moving forward, Burrow enters 2024 fully healthy and is a good bounce-back candidate. However, durability is becoming a concern. Fantasy managers who draft Burrow should consider taking a second quarterback as a way to hedge their bet.

9. Dak Prescott – Dallas Cowboys

Dak Prescott remains one of the more underrated fantasy options at the quarterback position. He delivers results year after year and 2023 was no different. Prescott finished as the overall QB3 and finished fifth in fantasy PPG. Expect another solid outing this season with Prescott playing for a new contract.

10. Jordan Love – Green Bay Packers

Last year, Jordan Love enjoyed a fine rookie season that saw him throw 32 passing touchdowns en route to a QB5 finish.

With a year under his belt, we should only expect him to get better. Love is another signal-caller primed for a second-year leap, and it’s exciting to see what he will do for an encore. He’s a nice fallback option if you get boxed out of the elite quarterbacks early in your draft.

11. Brock Purdy – San Francisco 49ers

Purdy proved all the doubters wrong in 2023 by throwing 32 touchdown passes and leading San Francisco to an appearance in Super Bowl LVIII. Among quarterbacks with 300 dropbacks, Purdy finished 11th in Pro Football Focus’ (PFF) Adjusted Completion Percentage. He remained hyper-efficient, made sound reads, and finished as the overall QB6. Surrounded by talent and playing in coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense, Purdy is a safe bet to return backend QB1 production.

12. Jayden Daniels – Washington Commanders

Rookie Jayden Daniels is an intriguing target due to his rushing abilities. He ran for 1,134 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns in his final collegiate season at LSU. Moving forward, he offers massive upside at the quarterback position.

With an FFPC ADP of 92.5, he isn’t priced anywhere near the same as the aforementioned Anthony Richardson but offers similar fantasy upside. His work as a passer could cap his ceiling in year one. However, if he utilizes his legs similarly to what we saw in college, he will have a safe weekly floor. If you prefer to wait on your quarterback this year, Daniels is an ideal target.
