Fantasy Football – WR Start Of The Week
Chris Olave @ LAR
The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a wide receiver outside the top 24 FantasyPros consensus rankings. Going up against the Los Angeles Rams, Chris Olave is my start of the week.
Now I understand that Olave missed Week 15 with an ankle injury, but he’s officially playing in Week 16 against the Rams. With Olave, there’s no questioning his talent, but early in the year, we saw some concerns with his quarterback play. However, Olave turned things around in week nine, averaging 17.2 PPG over his past five games.
When looking at Olave’s WR/CB matchup, according to Pro Football Focus, he has the sixth-best matchup score this week. PFF gives Olave a score of 83.9, which is “Good.” The Rams have allowed the 15th most fantasy points to wide receivers this year, which is fairly neutral. However, the Saints game has an over/under total of 46 points, the fourth highest this week on the slate according to most sportsbooks.
It’s also worth noting that the Saints have played it super safe with Olave, which makes me feel good about his health. While it’s tough to make lineup decisions on Thursday Night Football, you drafted Olave as a stud. My general rule of thumb is to play your studs, or at least play Olave as a Flex option.
