QB Trevor Lawrence Fantasy Football Outlook

Trevor Lawrence, the former first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, struggled in his rookie season. For fantasy football purposes, he finished as the QB24. However, Lawrence had his breakout season in his second year where he finished as the QB8.

Many were expecting a leap into the upper echelon of quarterbacks during his third season. It happened, but not quite as much as many expected. Lawrence was a bit of a disappointment last season as he finished as the QB13. While this was still solid for fantasy football purposes, he didn’t quite take the leap that many were hoping for. So where does that leave him for 2024 and in dynasty leagues?

Trevor Lawrence Fantasy Football Outlook (2024)

The Jaguars believe in Lawrence, as they signed him to a 5-year $275 million dollar extension this offseason. The question is, should you? More importantly, can your fantasy football teams rely on him?

Lawrence did not live up to expectations last year and finished as the QB13. While this was still solid, it just wasn’t quite there. However, the 2023 season truly was a tale of two seasons for Lawrence.

From Weeks 1 through 10, Lawrence was the QB19 in total fantasy points. Things improved from Weeks 11 and on, he was the QB7 in fantasy points per game.

The Jaguars did add to their offensive repertoire in the offseason. Along with back Travis Etienne Jr., receivers Christian Kirk and Evan Engram, they added streaky receiver Gabe Davis and drafted former LSU Tiger Brian Thomas Jr. with the 23rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Jacksonville is trying to give Lawrence as many weapons as they can to succeed.

Trevor Lawrence Dynasty Football Outlook

Lawrence’s dynasty fantasy football ADP is QB13 on FantasyPros. That’s a few spots higher than his redraft ADP. Personally, there is no quarterback ranked ahead of Lawrence that I would consider putting under him.

In a normal 1QB league, there is no desire to trade for Lawrence. If he holds any cache still among your league-mates,  I would actively look to trade him.

However, in a Superflex or 2QB league, Lawrence could be an interesting acquisition. His value may never be lower, and he has the weapons around him to be a top QB2 or a low-end QB1. Overall, this might be a great time to buy any sort of discount in quarterback-heavy dynasty leagues.

Trevor Lawrence – Final Thoughts

Which Lawrence will fantasy football managers see in 2024? The first-half one from last year (QB19) or the second-half one (QB7)?

Lawrence’s ADP in a redraft setting is currently QB17 on FantasyPros. Clearly, the fantasy community feels jilted by Lawrence’s 2023 lackluster performance.

In 1QB leagues, there is no reason to draft Lawrence as a starter. There are easily 12-15 quarterbacks who are preferable to Lawrence as my starting quarterback. In Superflex leagues, Lawrence is a very good option as a QB2, who will have some QB1 spike weeks. Check out where Lawrence is ranked in our latest 2024 fantasy football rankings.
