Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator: Jeff Fisher and Eric Marty

“Okay” is the best word to describe Jeff Fisher’s NFL coaching career.  He was a Head Coach in the league for a long time and compiled a record of 173-165.  He did have a Super Bowl run once but never quite secured the hardware there.  He has not been known to really open up the playbook and do anything fancy.  He has gone on record lately stating that he wants to open up the offense.  Time will tell if that is true or not.  Fisher has never really been one to have a more than basic offense but with the help of Eric Marty and him implementing some version of his multiple gun offense that led to a couple of some top JUCO offenses we could see a fun offense here with the Panthers.

Roster

Quarterbacks: Shea Patterson and Paxton Lynch

The Panthers had their pickings of any quarterback that they wanted with the number 1 overall pick and they took Patterson with that pick. NFL Draft scouts were worried about his size and lack of a strong arm which is why Paxton will have the upper hand here with a lot more NFL experience and being five inches taller. However, you would think with being the number one selected QB that you would be that team’s guy to start.

With that being said I think Patterson gets the edge to start out the season as the guy. Lynch could definitely take his spot though and will definitely get some playing time alongside Patterson at the start of the season.

Running Backs: Stevie Scott, Reggie Corbin, and Cameron Scarlett

Scott should get most of the work as he is bigger and got quite a bit more work in college than Corbin did. Corbin was more efficient however on his touches averaging more yards per touch than Scott. Scott should get early-down work and definitely get goal-line work. He had a nose for the endzone in college.

Wide Receivers: Quincy Adeboyejo, Lance Lenoir, Jeff Badet, Ray Bolden, and Devin Ross

Quincy did not report to the team yet so I’m unsure what’s going on with him and if he plans to play for the Panthers or not. I like him a lot if he plays and is one of their main weapons but I’m not going into detail on him right now if he hasn’t even been practicing with the team. Lenoir will be the top wideout on this team. He had great numbers at Western Illinois including a bunch of touchdowns. All of these guys have some pro experience and are great athletes. I think Badet and maybe Bolden as well will be used as gadget players quite a bit.

I like Lenoir a lot. I think he will get a lot of work this season.

Tight Ends: Joseph Magnifico and La’Michal Pettway

The Panthers have other tight ends but these are the two that got drafted and will get most of the work. I think Marty will want to run a lot of 2 Tight End sets with some unique play-calling so these guys. I’d assume Magnifico starts off as their number one because he has more tight end experience with blocking than Pettway does.
