Waiver-Wire-Pickups-for-IDP-Fantasy-Football-Week-12

We’re bringing on some of the most notable IDP waiver wire pickups for fantasy football leagues in Week 12. And there could be NFL players who should or could be available at different format levels each week. This allows us to either start them in Week 12 or stash them on your bench for next time. Or simple enough, if we have the room or the expendables on our benches. Either way, we can get ahead and stack our depth deeper if at all possible for the fantasy football season long haul. Let’s get right into it.

Week 12 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups

Cameron Heyward (DT) Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Week 12 @ Cincinnati Bengals – Strong
  • Week 13 vs. Arizona Cardinals – Strong
  • Week 14 vs. New England Patriots – Solid

I have to admit, while checking on DL Cameron Heyward’s rostered percentage, I was quite surprised. Notably, on just how available he is per quite a few fantasy football sites. Although he had just recently returned from a long stint on the injured reserves. So he still looks a little lite on rosters but holds DL2 standard league value every time he steps on the field. However, his most likely unappealing aspect is in dynasty leagues.

However, as we get closer to the fantasy football playoffs, don’t forget that a tier-one type player like Heyward should have solid trade value. As for redraft leagues, Heyward has resumed his normal DT1 play for deeper leagues. Including a DL2 floor for standard leagues and an ability to overachieve in any matchup.

Since returning from the I.R. in Week 9, Heyward has recorded an astounding 11 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, and 3 assists. He’s also slowly gained more snap count percentage per game and hit 61% in Week 10. And although it’s very possible to still see that keep climbing over the next week or two. At that rate, he’s recording solid LB2-type numbers as an interior defensive end. And with this lineup on tap. The odds are very favorable that he’ll continue that level of play. As well as the likelihood of recording his first sack of the season versus the Bengals this coming game

D.J. Wonnum (DL) Minnesota Vikings

  • Week 12 vs. Chicago Bears – Strong
  • Week 13 – Bye Week
  • Week 14 @ Las Vegas Raiders – OK

According to recent reports, Edge rusher Marcus Davenport (I.R) had a procedure on his ankle and is still not ready to return. However, there is hope that he might be able to make a comeback by the end of the season. Davenport is eligible to return from injured reserve, he won’t be able to play against the Bears in Week 12. It’s reportedly also unlikely he’ll be back before December according to most speculations.

In the meantime, longtime Viking D.J. Wonnum has taken over and excelled so far this season. Wonnum was mostly a backup edge rusher who has become a bit of a playmaker since taking over this year. And now has the Bears coming up in Week 12 that allow strong production to all edge players they face. The last time these two teams met was in Week 6 in Chicago. Wonnum recorded 3 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, and one assist. Only to cap it off nicely with a sack and a pass defended for extra box score padding.

D.J. Wonnum might not be available across the board or in every format. However, if he is available on the waiver wire in this matchup. The Bears in a home game offer at minimal half the production as he saw the first time around as his floor. Although considering the Bears have allowed as much as they have, remaining a top 10 all season. It’s possible Wonnum records his second game with 2 sacks this time around isn’t out of the question.

If there’s any downfall to mention about acquiring him this week. It’s only that we’ll have to stash him for the Vikings Week 13 bye-week or track him as a solid option versus the Raiders. Additionally, D.J. Wonnum has so far managed to overachieve in a lot of his matchups and will be well-rested after his bye week. This leaves us projecting he’ll still hit his average of 4 total tackles a game in Las Vegas, with DL2 upside value.

Jahlani Tavai (ILB) New England Patriots

  • Week 12 @ New York Giants – Stong
  • Week 13 vs. Los Angeles Chargers – Solid
  • Week 14 @ Pittsburgh Steelers – OK

Jahlani Tavai is not a well-known IDP in fantasy football. He has been off the radar for most of his career, including his first season with the Patriots last year. He just hasn’t had enough impact to suggest picking him up from the waiver wires. However, this season has been different, Tavai has provided solid LB2 production. Consistently and has even had a couple of games with LB1 value as a deeper play. And he averages 6 combined tackles per game with some extra splash plays here and there.

This makes him a great pick for the upcoming game against the Giants. New York has allowed production to opponents’ defensive fronts every game this season. Additionally, Jahlani Tavai isn’t a famous IDP ILB name makes him a steal for this week’s waiver wire pickup. So we may be able to also prioritize the shallower positions in standard formats. At least knowing that Tavai has a floor of 6 total tackles this week and is consistent enough to get it.
