Waiver Wire Pickups – Guillotine Leagues
So you’ve made it to Week 4 of your guillotine fantasy football league? Nice job! Now, you just have to do it again. Before that, we have Guillotine Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups For Week 4 to navigate. Let’s get into the top guillotine fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 4.
Remember, these listed bids are not going to get you that player in every league. Some folks, myself included, are going to overspend a bit to ensure that they land a specific player. I spent 25% of my budget on two players this week because I needed to after losing Deebo Samuel and Isiah Pacheco. Side note: Austin Ekeler is my new hero! Sometimes, even the most savvy fantasy managers need to tilt once in a while. Especially in this league style.
Anywho, let’s move on to the players you might see on the waivers for Week 4.
QB C.J. Stroud – Houston Texans
Max Bid: 7-8%
C.J. Stroud wasn’t horrible last week, but he fell outside of the top 20 quarterbacks in most fantasy scoring formats. He tallied only 217 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. This was mainly due to Minnesota’s relentless pursuit at the line of scrimmage.
Things are looking up in Week 4 with a matchup against the Jaguars. On Monday night, the Bills passing game was on point, throwing for 266 yards and four passing touchdowns. After a rough week, the Texans and Stroud will be hungry for redemption against a struggling Jacksonville defense.
Stroud has one of the highest ceilings every week due to the multitude of passing options. If you do have the chance to claim his services this week, I recommend you do so. He could be in for his most productive day of the entire season in Week 4.
RB Tony Pollard – Tennessee Titans
Max Bid: 10-11 %
We finally saw a flop from Tony Pollard in Week 3 as he accounted for just 14 rushing yards and 15 receiving yards on three catches. Not the kind of performance we expected from a guy who is the Titans’ clear number-one option out of the backfield. The big reason he didn’t perform was that Green Bay got out to a huge lead, minimizing the ground attack for much of the game. However, after seeing him get 16 and 17 carries in the first two weeks, we shouldn’t worry.
For Week 4, a faceoff with the Dolphins should be ideal. Without a solid passer under center, Miami hasn’t been able to sustain much offense. Tennessee, led by Pollard, should be able to get out to a lead and churn up yardage on the ground.
The one issue with adding Pollard is that he’ll be on bye in Week 5. If you can afford to take the chance, stashing him on your roster could be beneficial when your other running backs reach their bye weeks after him. I wouldn’t spend up too much if you’re thin at the position or have any other Week 5 bye week or injury issues.
RB James Conner – Arizona Cardinals
Max Bid: 12-15%
This is the kind of acquisition that could pay off for multiple weeks. James Conner got slammed by a great Detroit pass defense and also suffered from a negative game script. Trailing for almost three full quarters, Arizona quickly pulled back the reins on the ground game and Conner only saw nine carries for 17 yards.
Coming up for Arizona will be the Commanders in Week 4. In Week 3, the Bengals running backs totaled 120 rushing yards at a clip of 6.3 per carry. In last year’s meeting with Washington, Conner had a solid day with 62 yards on 14 carries and five receptions. For the immediate future, Conner will command the bulk of carries for Arizona while Trey Benson continues to get up to speed.
Workhorse running backs can be worth their weight in gold. Conner fits that bill. I’d be willing to put a premium price on him this week, but I won’t go overboard.
WR Mike Evans – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Max Bid: 12-15 %
A victim of blanket coverage by an elite defensive back, Mike Evans might have sunk a lot of guillotine dreams this past week. Managing just two catches for 17 yards could put any team on the chopping block. With that, he may be the most common player to hit waivers in guillotine leagues.
Philadelphia, who faces Tampa Bay in Week 4, is a juicy matchup for pass catchers. Before allowing Chris Olave to accumulate 86 yards and a touchdown, they gave up 184 yards and two scores to Atlanta wide receivers after allowing A.J. Brown to garner 119 yards and a score. Ultimately, Week 4 looks like a huge week for Evans.
For a player with the pedigree and potential to light up the stat sheet, Evans will be highly sought after. Personally, I wouldn’t blame anyone for placing a substantial bid on him for a big payout.
WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba – Seattle Seahawks
Max Bid: 9-11 %
After a big Week 2 outing, many fantasy managers pushed their chips in on Jaxon Smith-Njigba for Week 3. His 39-yard performance was not what we had hoped for. For the second time in three games, Smith-Njigba failed to reach the 40-yard mark. However, both of those games were against stalwart passing defenses.
For as good as Detroit is at stopping the run, they are as soft against the pass. Before holding Kyler Murray to 207 passing yards and a solitary touchdown, they surrendered 117 receiving yards to Chris Godwin and 110 yards to Cooper Kupp. In his earlier 2024 game against New England, another exploitable passing defense, he hauled in 12 receptions for 117 yards.
Smith-Njigba is gradually taking on the role as a regular passing target for Seattle’s offense. He has shown the ability to excel in these situations and could very well do so again in Week 4. Finally, his bye week is also a ways off in Week 10 making him a solid waiver wire pickup in guillotine leagues for the next few weeks.
Waiver Wire Pickups – Budget Bids
Every week, you’re going to see players become available that you want for your team. There are two views on this. Either wait and save your budget for when you really need it or place tiny bids on those bigger names that hit the wire. Personally, I prefer the second strategy. I’ll put less than a 1% bid on a few players every week. Keep in mind, that you might not get any of them. However, every so often you can score a player with a big value that becomes a staple of your roster.
The following players, as well as the ones previously mentioned, all fall into the budget bids category for your guillotine league waiver wire pickups in Week 4:
QB Baker Mayfield – Tampa Bay
QB Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia
WR Tyreek Hill – Miami
WR Tank Dell – Houston
WR Brandon Aiyuk – San Francisco
WR CeeDee Lamb – Dallas
RB Roschon Johnson – Chicago
RB De’Von Achane – Miami
RB Josh Jacobs – Green Bay
RB Ezekiel Elliott – Dallas
TE Zach Ertz – Washington
TE Travis Kelce – Kansas City (eventually, right?)
TE Trey McBride – Arizona
TE Mark Andrews – Baltimore (again: eventually?)
