Keep in mind, that rostered percentages are from Monday, October 28th. Let’s get right into the top waiver wire pickups for this week.

Waiver Wire Pickups – Quarterbacks

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams – 33% Rostered on Sleeper

The simultaneous return of Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua did wonders for Stafford this past week. He threw four touchdown passes, which is his first multi-touchdown pass game since December of 2023. The Rams are back in the race for the divisional crown and their passing game will be a huge part of the offense, going forward.

Against the upcoming Seahawks, Stafford has averaged 285.8 passing yards in his last four meetings with them. The Seahawks have allowed two passing scores per game in their last four contests. This should be another good day for Stafford.

Bo Nix, Denver Broncos – 25% Rostered on Yahoo

The rookie signal caller for Denver has been on a tear! Last week, we had him as a top waiver wire pickup as he took on the Panthers. That worked out perfectly as he finished as the QB2 on the week. Impressively, he’s now the QB9 on the season, depending on your scoring format.

Furthermore, Nix has thrown multiple touchdowns in three of the last four games and one total interception. He has also scored or eclipsed 60 rushing yards in each of those last four games. A Week 9 matchup with Baltimore should allow Nix to give fantasy managers one more nice day before a reality check arrives in the form of the Chiefs.

Waiver Wire Pickups – Running Backs

Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons – 37% rostered on Yahoo

In the fantasy football world, Allgeier is the premier handcuff running back. He is averaging 5.2 yards per carry on his 68 attempts this season. He’s received nine or more touches in five of eight games this year. He would become a top-12 fantasy football running back if anything were to happen to Bijan Robinson. All things considered, he should definitely not be available in so many fantasy leagues. This makes Allgeier one of the top waiver wire pickups this week.

Jaleel McLaughlin, Denver Broncos – 15% rostered on Yahoo

Another handcuff or depth option, McLaughlin is an anytime threat for a touchdown. He’s been given nine or more touches in three of his last five games and has scored three times this year. He’s not the sexiest pick, but he could potentially take on a bigger role if Javonte Williams starts to struggle again or suffers an injury.

Ray Davis, Buffalo Bills – 16% rostered on ESPN

Since getting no carries in Week 5 against Houston, Davis is averaging 5.4 yards per carry. In his first four NFL games, he was averaging just 2.9 yards per carry. Clearly, he’s becoming more accustomed to the pro game and it is translating on the field. Rookies often struggle at the beginning of their first season only to turn on the jets as their experience piles up. Grab Davis off the waiver wire before someone else does.

Waiver Wire Pickups – Wide Receivers

Ricky Pearsall, San Francisco 49ers – 22% rostered on ESPN

The story of Pearsall could be a Hallmark movie. A talented college athlete gets drafted, gets shot in a robbery, comes back to the sport he loves, and excels. With two games under his belt, he is averaging 12.25 yards per touch, topped off by a 39-yard carry last week. Truly impressive.

With Brandon Aiyuk lost for the season and a positive matchup (Tennessee) following the bye week, Pearsall could be a massive addition in fantasy. The Week 9 bye could make him a great, cheap option if you miss on your other waiver waiver pickups this week.

Cedric Tillman, Cleveland Browns – 24% rostered on Sleeper

After his breakout Week 7 performance of eight catches for 81 yards, Tillman doubled down with seven catches for 99 yards and two scores in Week 8. With Jameis Winston under center, things are looking much better for the Cleveland passing game. This week, they’ll face the Chargers defense. Our own D-PAC Score shows us that they are the 5th toughest squad against opposing wide receivers this year. Tillman might not be a great play for Week 9. However, with the way things are going, he’ll have tons of value down the road.

Tyler Boyd, Tennessee Titans – 1% rostered on Yahoo

This choice is for depth and the possibility that Tennessee’s passing game could include another viable receiver. Boyd hasn’t done a lot for fantasy this season with just one game of more than 40 receiving yards. However, he has seen 11 targets across the last two games and the absence of DeAndre Hopkins will surely keep him on the field more often. In bigger leagues, Boyd is a consideration to add to your roster with the upside he has shown in his days with Cincinnati.

Jalen Tolbert, Dallas Cowboys – 36% rostered on Sleeper

With the current state of the Cowboys’ defense, they’ve been in the position to have to rely on the pass a few times. Tolbert is their second starting wide receiver alongside CeeDee Lamb. With two of their next three matchups against teams that rank in the top 10 of our D-PAC Score (Atlanta 3 and Houston 9), we’re likely to see some good outings from Tolbert and the other Dallas pass catchers.

Waiver Wire Pickups – Tight Ends

Zach Ertz, Washington Commanders – 40% rostered on Sleeper

Ertz tallied 77 receiving yards from his seven receptions this past week. He is the 6th most targeted (45) tight end in the NFL, hauling in 32 passes for 345 yards. In each of the last three weeks, he has either surpassed 65 receiving yards or scored. Ertz has also scored six times in his last seven games against the Giants, who he’ll meet again in Week 9.

Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints – 19% rostered on ESPN

After missing the previous three games due to injury, Taysom Hill returned to the field with 20 rushing yards and a three-yard pass. Nothing to write home about, but we all know the insane upside he can provide. In his 12 career games against the Panthers, who he’ll see in Week 9, he has averaged 5.8 yards per carry while scoring twice on the ground, once on a reception and another passing touchdown. If there’s ever a week to slot him into your tight end slot, it is probably this week.

Waiver Wire Pickups – Streaming DST

Washington Commanders – 19% rostered on ESPN

The Commanders have accumulated 13 sacks and three interceptions in their last four games. They’ve also allowed less than 16 points three times in that span. Donte Fowler Jr. and Frankie Luvu are leading the team with 4.5 and 4 sacks, respectively. Against the Giants, who gave up four sacks to Pittsburgh on Monday night, there’s a good chance we could see similar quarterback distress in Week 9.

Waiver Wire Pickups – Streaming Kicker Options

Will Reichard, Minnesota Vikings – 16% rostered on Yahoo

Making all 14 of his attempted field goals this season, Reichard has been the most consistent part of the Vikings roster. He’s made four kicks from beyond 50 yards and they’ll have a Sunday night face off with the Colts this week. Ride the fire for another solid week of kicker production. Reichard wraps up the top waiver wire pickups for Week 8 of the fantasy football season.
