Week 2 Fantasy Football WR Rankings: Start of the Week
Chris Godwin at Detroit Lions
Chris Godwin kicked off the 2024 season by scoring 22.3 fantasy points, a WR8 overall finish, against the Washington Commanders. Next up is a Detroit Lions team that gave up the most fantasy points to wide receivers in Week 1.
In his first game with new offensive coordinator Liam Coen, Godwin played significantly more in the slot than in prior years. This helped him lead the team in targets (8) and target share (26.7%). Additionally, the Detroit Lions just gave up 32 fantasy points to Cooper Kupp playing in a similar role that involved slot snaps and pre-snap motion.
Furthermore, the Buccaneers will continue to get Godwin targets in space and allow him to get yards after catch. Notably, he averaged 6.0 yards after catch per reception in Week 1. In the matchup with the highest over/under of the week, I’m firing up Godwin everywhere I have him.
