World Cup Best Bets for Day 5

As we head into the start of the group stage of the World Cup for me there are only a handful of teams that come to mind when I think of teams that are synonymous with this tournament. The team I’m looking at here is Brazil. In the qualification stage, Brazil ran through their group in an impressive fashion not only scoring 40 goals in 17 games they only allowed 5 goals going unbeaten with 14 of these results being wins. As a reminder of just how good the pedigree of this team is Brazil are also unbeaten in their last 15 consecutive group-stage games. 

Brazil Vs Serbia

While this Brazil team is the perennial favorite of the World Cup it’s been 20 years since they last hoisted a World Cup trophy. While it’s easy to be an admirer of this team for what has been referred to for many years as “ The beautiful game” in the way they attack what I think is overlooked about this team is the way they defend. With this being said enter Serbia.

While Serbia has the chance to be the biggest sleeper in the tournament and a real dark horse I don’t think this first game is the ideal game for them to get out of the gates flying. Elite scoring threat Aleksandar Mitrovic is coming off a broken foot and is one of the 2 key cogs next to Dusan Vlahovic that make this offense hum&even if Mitrovic plays I would not expect him to be at 100%. 

To say the attack that Brazil possesses is unmatched is an understatement. Vinicius (Six goals and three assists in 14 La Liga games) and Neymar (11 goals and nine assists in 14 Ligue 1 games) I also expect Richarlison to play a big part in this attack while he hasn’t scored for Tottenham yet this season in Eight CONMEBOL qualification games he scored six times for his country averaging a goal every 89 minutes, 

Even with a defensive approach, it should only be a matter of time before Brazil breaks down the Serbian defense which brings us to the betting line. We are seeing Brazil -1 at -119 which in my opinion is quite a bargain given the track record of this Brazil side and that is what I’m rolling with.
