RB Zamir White Fantasy Outlook
Thanks to a Josh Jacobs monstrous season in 2022, where he had almost 300 touches, White the former 4th-round pick, hardly played in his rookie year. In the end, he had 17 touches for a total of 70 yards.
Last year, Jacobs suffered an injury late in the season that led to White taking over the Raiders backfield in Week 15. From Weeks 15-18, White averaged 23.3 touches and 114.3 total yards. During that time, he was the RB12. With Jacobs gone and a full season as potentially, the lead RB in Vegas, let’s take a look at his fantasy football outlook for 2024.
Zamir White Fantasy Football Outlook (2024)
The Raiders did sign former Minnesota Vikings back Alexander Mattison to a one-year contract. After that, they re-signed Ameer Abdullah and drafted New Hampshire running back Dylan Laube in the 6th round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
While that does seem like a lot of mouths to feed and considerable competition, none of them present a serious challenge to White’s lead running back status entering the year.
Abdullah was on the team last year and was only given a few carries a game when White was the starter. Mattison is just a guy and added depth. Finally, Laube profiles as a passing back and special teams player.
Furthermore, there is a concern that White doesn’t have much pass-catching upside. In the four games he started last year, he almost averaged four receptions a game which would translate into 68 receptions for a full fantasy football season. While one cannot expect that many receptions, 35-45 seems like a safe floor and a bonus for his production.
In a recent interview, Raiders offensive coordinator Luke Getsy was quoted as saying “When he gets that rock, there’s a cool explosiveness that I can’t wait to see people bouncing off of him.” White remains the main beneficiary of Jacobs leaving, on a team that wants to run the ball and he is set to be the workhorse for the team this season.
Dynasty Football Outlook
White will be turning 25 this September. His current dynasty ADP is RB27 according to FantasyPros. That’s one spot behind Javonte Williams and right behind Brian Robinson Jr. This is mainly due to the uncertainty surrounding White’s playing time this upcoming season and the small sample size of games started in his career.
According to fantasycalc.com, some recent players involved in trades to acquire White were Stefon Diggs, Tank Bigsby, and Elijah Mitchell.
If White performs well this year, his dynasty ADP will rise dramatically. As expected, it would take a lot more to acquire White. Now might be a good time to buy in if you believe in his talent.
Conclusion
White was asked recently if he was ready to embrace his new role as lead running back and he said emphatically “Hell yes!” At his current ADP of RB23, you should feel just as confident as White. Ultimately, he will be a volume-driven back who will be given every opportunity to succeed this year.
