2023 Deep Dynasty Stash: Bryce Ford-Wheaton

2023 Deep Dynasty Stash: Bryce Ford-Wheaton

Bryce Ford-Wheaton

Wide Receiver – West Virginia

6’3, 224 lbs

Undrafted – Signed by the New York Giants

Pre-Draft Profile

Bryce Ford-Wheaton is a big-bodied wideout that plays physically and will beat out opponents in jump ball situations. He reminds me a lot of Andre Johnson, the former Houston Texans wide receiver star. His route running is a little raw but has an excellent catch radius.

Ford-Wheaton got better each year at West Virginia. He doubled his receptions from 27 in 2020 to 42 in 2021 and 62 in 2022. He also increased his receiving yards by 200 in the last three seasons. Ford-Wheaton finished with 143 receptions, 1867 receiving yards, and 17 touchdowns.

Bryce was ranked number three in receptions in 2022 and also ranked number 10 in receiving yards and 2 in receiving touchdowns, all in the Big 12. His catch rate was 52.2% in 2019, 47.4% in 2020, 61.8% in 2021, and 56.4% in 2022. The former Mountaineer can catch, and with his ability plus a quarterback like Daniel Jones, he needs an opportunity to shine.

Fantasy Football Outlook

Ford-Wheaton is very athletic and likely not on anyone’s radar or team. However, now is the time to stash this potential wide receiver stud.

However, his RAS (Relative Athletic Score) is the top score out of all the wide receivers from this year’s draft class at 9.97. His athletic ability is off the charts.

Not only is Ford-Wheaton, an athletic beast, but he has ample opportunity in front of him. The New York Giants need a legit number-one wide receiver, and Ford-Wheaton could be that guy.

Only having to beat out the likes of Darius Slayton, Parris Campbell, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Sterling Shepard, the path to becoming the number one wideout in New York is not a difficult task.

If the Giants end up with Bryce Ford-Wheaton as the number one wideout, along with Jalin Hyatt and Isaiah Hodgins as their wideout group for the future, then that will be a bright future for the Giants.
