It’s official. Aaron Rodgers has been traded to the New York Jets.
Trade compensation, per sources: Jets get: Aaron Rodgers, pick No. 15, a 2023 5th-rd pick (No. 170). Packers get: Pick No. 13, a 2023 2nd-rd pick (No. 42), a 6th-rd pick (No. 207), a conditional 2024 2nd-rd pick that becomes a 1st if Rodgers plays 65 percent of the plays. Fantasy Football Outlook: In the same way a high tide lifts all boats, all receiving options for the gang green get a massive value bump. Reigning rookie of the year Garrett Wilson benefits the most here. He was the wide receiver 39 in our Consistency Score metric for 2022. The latest development only expands his capacity for growth into a dominant force in the league. I recommend buying in dynasty for anything up to the 1.04 rookie pick or equivalent value.
Recently, Elijah Moore was traded to the Cleveland Browns, opening up some targets on this offense. Furthermore, free agent acquisition Allen Lazard adds a familiar face to this offense. With that, I think Lazard will continue to be a WR3 for your fantasy teams.
Now for Jordan Love. The catalyst of the rumor mill surrounding the departure of Rodgers that began during the 2020 NFL Draft. The existing cast in Green Bay includes Aaron Jones, AJ Dillon, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and a stellar offensive line. With these players around Love, the tools to thrive are at his fingertips. I advocate for trading a late first-round rookie pick for this high-potential young quarterback.
