Final 2023 NFL Mock Draft

Final-2023-NFL-Mock-Draft

Welcome to NFL Draft week! This is the week dreams become true and mocks end up being 99.9% incorrect! Today, I’ll be breaking down my final mock draft for the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft. Round 1 kicks off on April 27th, but you can check out the entire schedule for the NFL Draft here.

Mock drafts are for fun but personally, I try to get them as accurate as possible. NFL Rumors are still flying out, smoke is starting to build, but most importantly, some smoke is starting to become true! Let’s take a dive into my Final 2023 NFL Mock Draft.

1.) Carolina Panthers (via CHI): Bryce Young QB, Alabama

After much back and forth, it seems that Bryce Young is going to be the pick. Personally, I believe that CJ Stroud will work well with Frank Reich but Young would be a generational talent if he was over 6’1. Carolina will be in great hands with the former Alabama quarterback.

2.) Houston Texans: Will Anderson EDGE, Alabama

There’s no way the Texans pass on a quarterback right? RIGHT?!?! Well… I think that’s what they’re going to do. Houston might’ve been in love with Stroud until his testing scores came in. Houston could look to trade this pick but I don’t necessarily see a team that is willing to trade up.

3.) Tennessee Titans (PROJECTED TRADE via ARI): Anthony Richardson QB, Florida

Titans receive: Pick No.3
Cardinals receive: Picks No.11, No.41, & 2024 1st

Anthony Richardson over C.J. Stroud?  Organizations love Richardson and his ceiling. With Tennessee still having Ryan Tannehill, Richardson makes sense. In the end, the Titans get my No. 1 quarterback in Florida’s Anthony Richardson.

4.) Indianapolis Colts: C.J. Stroud QB, Ohio State

Indianapolis reportedly loves Will Levis. I think he would be a perfect fit for them so this could go either way. However, C.J. Stroud falls and Indianapolis has a chance to select my No. 2 quarterback in Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud.

5.) Seattle Seahawks (via DEN): Jalen Carter, IDL Georgia

Seattle seems like the team that takes Carter. Not necessarily their biggest need, however, he’s one of my top prospects in this year’s draft. Georgia’s Jalen Carter is one of the best defensive prospects since Aaron Donald came out of Pittsburgh.

6.) Detroit Lions (via LAR): Devon Witherspoon CB, Illinois

Witherspoon has received a lot of hype since the season ended. I think Detroit is going to go cornerback here and Illinois’ Devon Witherspoon is the perfect fit for their scheme.

7.) Las Vegas Raiders: Will Levis QB, Kentucky

The Raiders need to look to find their franchise quarterback. Levis is ranked inside my top 15 of prospects for this class. While he doesn’t necessarily need to sit for a year, the Raiders might look to do just that. If Jimmy Garoppolo continues to have injury concerns, Levis could see a lot of playing time this season.

8.) Atlanta Falcons: Bijan Robinson HB, Texas

I think Atlanta could go Tyree Wilson here but Bijan Robinson is too good to pass on. Desmond Ridder is going to need as much help as possible if the Falcons want a chance at being a good team in 2023.

9.) Chicago Bears (via CAR): Paris Johnson Jr. OT, Ohio State

Protecting Justin Fields is going to be the main priority for the Bears heading into the draft. While I think Darnell Wright should be the pick here, I believe Fields would be more comfortable with Paris Johnson Jr. out of Ohio State.

10.) Philadelphia Eagles (via NO): Christian Gonzalez CB, Oregon

A top corner falls to the Eagles. Gonzalez would be the 3rd corner on the Eagles’ depth chart but will be their No. 1 in the near future. As far as trading back, Gonzalez is worth the No. 10 pick.

11.) Arizona Cardinals (PROJECTED TRADE via TEN): Tyree Wilson EDGE, Texas Tech

Risers and fallers happen all the time in the NFL Draft. Tyree Wilson could be the prospect that is potentially reached on or a guy that is pushed down because of priority. Cardinals select the best player available in Texas Tech’s Tyree Wilson.

12.) Houston Texans: Jaxon Smith-Njigba WR, Ohio State

If the Texans pass on a quarterback, they don’t need to prioritize protecting a transition guy like Davis Mills. Give as much firepower to the offense and that’s what Ohio State receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is.

13.) New York Jets: Darnell Wright OT, Tennessee

The best right tackle in this class and potentially the top offensive lineman in the class, Wright can be a great addition to the newly lead Aaron Rodgers’ Jets.

14.) New England Patriots: Zay Flowers WR, Boston College

Rumor has it that the Patriots love Zay Flowers. His height concerns me but Flowers would be the No. 2 wide receiver in New England behind JuJu Smith-Schuster.

15.) Green Bay Packers: Dalton Kincaid TE, Utah

Green Bay should select the best weapon available here to help Jordan Love. Dalton Kincaid is that guy. He’s not the best blocker but his threat with the ball in his hands makes up for it.

16.) Washington Commanders: Deonte Banks CB, Maryland

Something Washington loves to have on their team is speed. Deonte Banks is a speedster at 6’0 and would make an immediate impact on the Commanders.

17.) Pittsburgh Steelers: Peter Skoronski OL, Northwestern

Will Peter Skoronski be a tackle or a guard? Either way, he would be an immediate starter and upgrade for the Steelers’ offensive line.

18.) Detroit Lions: Jordan Addison WR, USC

With the recent suspension of Jameson Williams, the Lions are going to have to add another weapon if they want a chance at winning the NFC North. Jordan Addison was once in play here in my recent mocks, now he is my final selection for the Detroit Lions.

19.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Broderick Jones OT, Georgia

The biggest need for the Buccaneers is offensive tackle. Jones is a great pass protector and can maul defenders in the run game. At pick 19, the best offensive lineman remaining is Georgia’s Broderick Jones and he might be just what Tampa Bay needs.

20.) Seattle Seahawks: Nolan Smith EDGE, Georgia

Smith has high upside and can benefit from the addition of Dre’Mont Jones and Jalen Carter. Seattle needs help on defense and they add two of the top prospects on the defensive side of the ball in Georgia’s Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith.

21.) Los Angeles Chargers: Quentin Johnston WR, TCU

The Chargers need to find another receiver for Justin Herbert. While Jahmyr Gibbs could be the pick here, the smart thing to do for the Chargers is to give Herbert another target while they target a running back in the middle rounds.

22.) Baltimore Ravens: Rashee Rice WR, SMU

My No. 4 ranked wide receiver due to his ball skills and tracking on contested coverage. Even though this is a reach of a pick, in the long term, Rice could be one of the best receivers from this class. Rice has a few drop issues but maybe with some learning from recently signed Odell Beckham Jr., Rice will thrive in this system.

23.) Minnesota Vikings: Hendon Hooker QB, Tennessee

With Minnesota looking to trade for quarterbacks, maybe the smart thing to do is to take Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker. Hooker is reportedly ahead of schedule in his ACL rehab.

24.) Jacksonville Jaguars: DJ Turner CB, Michigan

I wanted to bolster up the pass rush some more but corner is a huge need. Turner is picking up steam on being a 1st rounder and for good reason. The Jaguars have an established pass rush and can use a guy like Michigan’s DJ Turner.

25.) New York Giants: Joey Porter Jr. CB, Penn State

The Giants could look to trade back with a few options on the board but Joey Porter Jr. is a guy they need. Rumors are they love a few of the centers, but I don’t have one ranked this high.

26.) Dallas Cowboys: Michael Mayer TE, Notre Dame

Some people say he’s a Jason Witten clone. No way Jerry Jones passes on that right? It’s not the prettiest pick but Cowboy fans will see the similarities quickly.

27.) Houston Texans (PROJECTED TRADE via BUF): Myles Murphy EDGE, Clemson

Texans receive: Pick No. 27Bills receive: Picks No. 33 & No. 104

With the top wide receivers off the board, Buffalo trades out of the 1st round and adds a 4th round pick as well. Houston adds two top pass rusher prospects in Alabama’s Will Anderson and Clemson’s Myles Murphy.

28.) Cincinnati Bengals: Jahmyr Gibbs HB, Alabama

I’m not sure what’s going on with Joe Mixon but he’s had a lot of off-field issues recently. As much as I want to mock a tight end, Gibbs is the safe pick at this time.

29.) New Orleans Saints (via DEN): Adetomiwa Adebawore DL, Northwestern

New Orleans has a history of drafting players with high upside. They don’t stop here as Adebawore lit up the combine and is an underrated pass rusher.

30.) Philadelphia Eagles: Brian Branch DB, Alabama

Howie Roseman is a man that loves to trade. However, I don’t see a team that is willing to trade up to this spot. The Eagles already added Oregon’s Christian Gonzalez to be their future No. 1 corner in this mock. Now they select Alabama’s Brian Branch to be their new C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

31.) Kansas City Chiefs: Lukas Van Ness EDGE, Iowa

Kansas City took George Karlaftis around this same territory in last year’s NFL Draft. They’re set on offense so they add another pass rusher in Iowa’s Lukas Van Ness.
