Carson Wentz Traded to Washington Commanders

What a week it has been so far! Monday we had the Calvin Ridley news. Yesterday we had the massive Russell Wilson trade that sub-planted all the franchise tags we were all waiting to hear and now this! This afternoon Carson Wentz was traded from the Indianapolis Colts to the Washington Commanders for two-third round picks.

What does this mean for the Commanders?

Carson Wentz

A high-end QB2 coming into a similar lineup that he had like the Colts. Still a QB2 at the moment.

Antonio Gibson

No change, we are still looking at a back-end RB1/high-end RB2.

Terry McLaurin

We should see an increase in targets, receptions, and yards. His current high is 123 with Taylor Heinicke. We could see something closer to 150 targets, over 1,200 yards, and at least six touchdowns. All these would be career highs with him, but the overall quarterback upgrade for his career is worth the uptick. Safe WR2 at the moment. Michael Pittman just finished as the WR17 with Wentz last year and McLaurin could have low-end WR1 potential.

Tight Ends

With Logan Thomas going down late in the season with a torn ACL, we don’t know when he will exactly return at the moment, but being a pass catcher, this is an improvement for whoever is in a tight end.

The Colts
