Chad Johnson – WR Cincinnati Bengals
Chad Johnson, formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, had an illustrious NFL career primarily with the Cincinnati Bengals. Known for his incredible athleticism, precise route-running, and charismatic personality, Johnson was one of the most entertaining and effective wide receivers in the league.
Johnson’s career spanned 11 seasons (2001-2011), with 10 of those seasons being in Cincinnati. Drafted by the Bengals in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft, he quickly established himself as a premier talent. Ultimately, he boasted six Pro Bowl appearances (2003-2007, 2009) and was named to four All-Pro teams, showcasing his consistent high-level performance.
Throughout his career, Johnson was known for his prolific receiving abilities. He led the AFC in receiving yards for four seasons (2003, 2004, 2006, and 2007). Additionally, in 2006, he led the entire NFL in receiving yards with 1,369 yards. Needless to say, Johnson holds several Bengals franchise records, including the most receiving yards in a season (1,440 in 2007) and most seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards.
Beyond his on-field achievements, Johnson was famous for his flamboyant endzone celebrations and his engaging personality. Notably, he changed his last name to Ochocinco in 2008 to reflect his jersey number (85). However, he later reverted to Johnson in 2012.
After a decade with the Bengals, Johnson spent a brief period with the New England Patriots in 2011, where he appeared in Super Bowl XLVI. He finished his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins in 2012, although he never played a regular-season game for them.
