Denver Broncos fans have received the news they have been waiting for – an upgrade at the quarterback position.
The Broncos have been linked with Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers all off-season, but it was announced earlier today that Rodgers had signed a massive new deal at the Green Bay Packers. This news looked like a deal for a new quarterback in Denver was not going to materialize. However, that was all about to change as the Broncos have agreed on a deal with the Seattle Seahawks for Russell Wilson.
Fantasy Implications: Broncos
This is a huge upgrade for wide receivers Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy. Unfortunately, Noah Fant is part of this deal and doesn’t get to reap the benefits of a huge quarterback upgrade. Instead, Albert Okwuegbunam will enter his third year with a shot at a breakout with Wilson throwing him the ball and Fant no longer getting in the way.
Fantasy Implications: Seahawks
As for the Seahawks pass-catchers, this is about as rough of news as it gets for DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Obviously now for Fant as well, with the uncertainty around the quarterback position in Seattle. We’ll see what happens in the rest of free agency whether or not the Seahawks pursue another quarterback or end up drafting one. As of now though, it’s less than ideal that’s for sure.
