DFS Cash Game Picks – NFL Week 14

DFS-Cash-Game-Picks-NFL-Week-14

Welcome to another edition of DFS Cash Game Picks. In this series, we target some expensive players who are worth paying for. Additionally, we have some value plays as well. We’ll be breaking down the best DFS picks you should be targeting in Week 14 of the 2023 NFL season

Last week’s slate was certainly wild with five teams scoring over 30 points. There were a couple of wide receivers who had massive games with Deebo Samuel and Nico Collins leading the way as the high scorers. Check out a quick recap of my picks below followed by my week 14 studs and values. There are a few injuries to monitor so make sure to check before lineups are locked and make sure all players are active. Good luck!

Smash

The Atlanta Falcons defense finished tied for first as the top-scoring defense on the slate with 17 fantasy points.

Taysom Hill was the TE4 finishing with 15.40 fantasy points.

Russell Wilson was a solid value ending the slate as the QB7. If Wilson was able to throw a touchdown on the final play instead of an interception he woulda finished as the QB3. However, with the interception he finished with 18.84 fantasy points which is still very solid for his salary.

Duds

Austin Ekeler was one of the most disappointing picks of the season. He had by far his worst game of the year averaging just over one yard per carry. Ekeler ended the game with a disgusting 4.70 fantasy points.

Juwan Johnson was non-existent in the New Orleans Saints offense. Johnson saw only three targets not catching any of them for a big fat goose egg.

Najee Harris got stuffed multiple times on the goal line resulting in him just scoring 9.70 fantasy points.

Quarterbacks

Justin Fields ($6,800)

Fields scored 24.2 fantasy points against the Detroit Lions defense just a couple weeks ago. Fields scored that many points despite only throwing one touchdown and 169 passing yards. A lot of the scoring was because of his rushing upside where he ran for over 100 yards. His rushing ability gives him the potential to break any slate week in and week out.

Furthermore, this week very well could be a Fields slate breaker as the Lions defense has not improved much this season. The Lions are among the top ten worst teams against quarterbacks this year. That should continue this week, as Fields and the Chicago Bears look to knock down another division rival for the second week in a row.

Desmond Ridder ($5,000)

This play is pretty disgusting but once again, the value quarterbacks are a little skimp. However, Ridder can at least offer some rushing upside, as he has rushed for four touchdowns on the season. This week, Ridder will get a matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense. The Buccaneers have been very good against the run this year but they have had their struggles in the secondary. They have allowed the fourth most passing yards to quarterbacks. Furthermore, the Buccaneers have allowed quarterbacks to rush for five touchdowns this season. Look for Ridder to be a good value this week and hopefully find the end zone on the ground.

Running Backs

Christian McCaffrey ($9,200)

McCaffrey is a great play most weeks despite his salary consistently being in the 8.5-9.5K range. He’s almost a lock to get you 20 or more fantasy points, as he has in 10/12 games that season. This week McCaffrey has a great shot to be up in the 30s or even in the 40s. Two weeks ago, on Thanksgiving, McCaffrey scored 33.9 fantasy points against the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks have been among the worst teams against running backs this season. However, they are well rested after playing last week on Thursday night but that shouldn’t stop CMC from having another huge game.

Chase Brown ($4,400)

Brown may have taken over as the Cincinnati Bengals number-two running back. Last week against a very solid Jacksonville Jaguars rush defense, Brown was able to rush for 61 yards on nine carries. Brown only played 11 snaps so him getting carries on all but two of those snaps, is great to see. More importantly, he showed explosiveness and patience on a 31-yard carry. It would not be a surprise if Brown played well enough to eat into some of Joe Mixon‘s workload.

Wide Receivers

Amari Cooper ($5,800)

Cooper left last week’s game due to a concussion and his status this week is questionable. However, if he’s able to clear concussion protocol, he could be in for a huge week. Cooper gets a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars defense, who have struggled against wide receivers all season long. Furthermore, the Browns are at home and Cooper, for whatever reason, is just much better at home and has been his whole career. Joe Flacco targeted him early in the game last week and looked good enough to trust him to get the ball to Cooper this week.

Quentin Johnston ($4,000)

Johnston has been a huge disappointment all season long. He has struggled to find his footing in the NFL and is 16th among rookie wide receivers in receiving yards. However, last week he had his best game of the season catching five passes for 52 yards. The first-round pick will continue to get his number called with the lack of healthy weapons in Los Angeles. Look for Johnston to build some momentum off last week’s game and put together another solid week.

Tight Ends

Taysom Hill ($5,400)

This pick worked last week and there’s no reason to believe Hill isn’t a good pick again this week. Hill carried the ball a season-high 13 times in last week’s game. This week, he faces a Carolina Panthers defense, who have struggled to stop teams from scoring rushing touchdowns. They have surrendered a league-high 20 rushing touchdowns on the season. Finally, Derek Carr is banged up again so, that could force Hill to be even more involved in the offense.

Cole Kmet ($4,300)

Kmet has been a very good value play a few times this season. His salary has never made it over 4,600 but he has scored double digits in 5/12 games. Furthermore, he has scored five touchdowns this year, which is tied for second-most among tight ends. More importantly, the Lions defense is also tied for second in touchdowns allowed to tight ends this season. Moreover, Kmet has played seven career games against the Lions and has scored four touchdowns. Look for Kmet to hit his celebratory home run in the end zone after scoring a touchdown on Sunday.

Defense / Special Teams

Cleveland Browns ($3,000)

The Browns defense hasn’t been able to score double-digit fantasy points the last three weeks. Last week they struggled and scored -1.0 points. However, this week should be a good get-right game for them. They will be facing backup quarterback CJ Beathard. Furthermore, they are back at the Dawg Pound where the average of 10.1 DraftKings points compared to 7.5 on the road. There is also some rain in the forecast for the game so it could get sloppy. Look for the Browns defense to get back on track Sunday.
